## Admissions

B.S. Medical Sciences and Engineering is a 4-year IIT Madras award in Chennai. The programme combines disciplinary study with the institute’s academic and practical requirements.

These requirements apply to the documented admission route. Qualifications, entrance tests and nationality/category rules must be assessed together.

- Qualify IAT 2026 and apply separately for the IIT Madras BS allocation; an IISER application alone is not an IIT Madras application.
- Only Indian nationals or OCI/PIO cardholders whose cards were issued before 4 March 2021 are eligible for this 2026 route.
- Pass Class XII science in 2024, 2025 or 2026 from a COBSE-recognised board; minimum 60% aggregate, or 55% for SC/ST/PwD.
- Take Mathematics and at least two of Biology, Chemistry and Physics for Medical Sciences and Engineering.

Steps:

1. Select the exact programme and admission category on the applicable institutional or counselling application.
2. Submit the qualifying records and test results, complete the selection or allocation process, and accept the written offer.
3. Complete original-document verification and confirm the cohort’s fees, joining instructions and accommodation before reporting.

- Document: Class XII and qualifying-school marksheets
- Document: Required entrance-examination result or scorecard and applicable degree-equivalence evidence
- Application document: Identity/nationality document and programme offer/allotment letter
- Application document: Applicable category, disability or income certificates
- Application document: Indian nationality evidence or an eligible OCI/PIO card issued before 4 March 2021 for the claimed route.
The verified 2026 UG cohort began classes 30 July 2026, after 23–24 July document verification and 25 July orientation. The next cycle needs its own admission notice.
