## Admissions

B.Tech. Chemical Engineering is a 4-year IIT Madras award in Chennai. The programme combines disciplinary study with the institute’s academic and practical requirements.

- For 2026: Class XII with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, at least five subjects; meet 75% aggregate (65% for eligible SC/ST/PwD) or the category-wise top 20-percentile criterion.
- First Class XII appearance normally 2025 or 2026; the specified late 2023–24 board-result exception and compulsory-service relaxation follow the JEE 2026 rules.
- Born on/after 1 October 2001; eligible Indian SC/ST/PwD relaxation is five years. The foreign compulsory-military-service exception is assessed separately.
- JEE Advanced allows at most two attempts in consecutive years. The earlier IIT-admission exclusion and the stated preparatory/nonreporting/withdrawal exceptions also apply.
- Indian and OCI/PIO(I) applicants require the qualifying JEE Main 2026 rank before JEE Advanced. Foreign and OCI/PIO(F) applicants register directly for JEE Advanced without JEE Main.
- Qualify JEE Advanced and obtain the programme allocation through JoSAA. Overseas school qualifications need the required equivalence evidence; nationality and OCI/PIO seat categories differ.
