## Why students choose it

- AMCET is a TNEA-listed Anna University college (code 1137) on NH-46 that is 10 to 12 km from Katpadi railway station, so students from Vellore, Ranipet and Tiruvannamalai can reach it by road or bus.
- AICTE's 2026-27 approval covers eight B.E./B.Tech branches, an MBA and an MCA, including new AI and Machine Learning and MCA courses.
- AMCET has campus logistics for men and women on campus and runs college buses, with published TNEA charges for both.

## Things to consider

- AMCET is an affiliated, non-autonomous college, not a university: Anna University sets its syllabus and exams and awards its degrees, and there are no seats for international students because AICTE shows no NRI or international approval.
- AMCET publishes no tuition fee and DoTE's TNEA 2026 booklet shows no NBA-accredited branch. The mandatory disclosure cites a NAAC B++ grade without a certificate or validity date, so ask the college for the certificate.
- The B.E. Civil, EEE and Mechanical branches have small intakes of 30, 30 and 60. AI and Machine Learning and the MCA are new for 2026-27 with no graduating batch.

## Best fit for

- Tamil Nadu TNEA applicants from Vellore, Ranipet and Tiruvannamalai who want an Anna University B.E. or B.Tech close to home.
- Students interested in computing: CSE, AI and Data Science, IT and AI and Machine Learning make up 360 of AMCET's 480 first-year B.E./B.Tech places.
- Graduates with a TANCET 2026 score who want an MBA or MCA near Vellore.

## Campus and city

AMCET's campus covers about 25 acres at Arappakkam on NH-46, with three academic blocks and a 500-seat auditorium. Its central library covers 866 sq m with the Koha library system, DELNET, NPTEL and National Digital Library access, and subscribes to 89 national and 73 international journals. Laboratories are listed for ECE, EEE, Mechanical, CSE, AI and Data Science and Civil. Sports include an indoor stadium, a gym and outdoor cricket, football, volleyball and basketball.

AMCET is on NH-46, the Chennai-Bengaluru highway, at Arappakkam in Walaja taluk, Ranipet district, Tamil Nadu 632517. AICTE lists the address under Vellore district, from which Ranipet was carved out. DoTE's TNEA 2026 booklet gives Katpadi as the nearest railway station, 10 to 12 km away, and Ranipet as the district headquarters, 12 km away. Anna University's college code is 5135.

AMCET is not autonomous, so it follows Anna University's curricula and regulations: the university sets the syllabus, conducts the end-semester exams and awards the degree, and the college runs internal assessment. AICTE makes an internship mandatory for every admitted student. The college's Centre for Training and Placement runs campus drives and records 27 recruiters on its 2024 placement table, among them HCL, Infosys, TCS and Sundaram Fasteners. Offer counts and packages are self-reported.

## Hostel, food and safety

AMCET has separate boys' and girls' hostels on campus with four-occupancy rooms, a mess serving vegetarian and non-vegetarian food, Wi-Fi, a common room and computer room, laundry, RO drinking water and a 24-hour security desk. DoTE's TNEA 2026 booklet lists room rent and mess together at about INR 1.08 lakh a year, electricity of INR 2,000 and a caution deposit of INR 5,000. Parents must accompany the student to the warden to take a room.

AMCET's hostel messes serve vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. Fixed timings are breakfast 7:15 to 8:25 am, lunch 12:30 to 2:00 pm, tea and snacks 4:30 to 5:30 pm and dinner 7:30 to 8:30 pm, followed by a study hour from 8:30 to 10:00 pm. The college also runs a cafeteria. It publishes no menu or provision for specific regional or religious diets, so ask the warden before joining.

AMCET's AICTE disclosure lists an anti-ragging committee and squad, an internal complaints committee for sexual-harassment complaints, a women grievance cell and an SC/ST committee. The hostels have a 24-hour security desk. TNEA 2026 publishes an anti-ragging phone number for the college (+91 94433 04963).

AMCET runs a Centre for Training and Placement, a higher-education centre, a personality development centre and an entrepreneurship cell with a startup club and Institution's Innovation Council. Grievances go to a students grievance and redressal committee. The college gives annual Academic Excellence awards, branded Mira Merit Scholarship, to students with high Anna University results; amounts are not published.
