## Campus and city

The Faculty of Agriculture has an experimental farm, orchard, livestock farm, agro-meteorological observatory and automatic weather station. Its departments include Agronomy, Entomology, Plant Pathology, Agricultural Microbiology, Genetics and Plant Breeding, Soil Science, Economics and Extension Education.

The main campus is at Annamalainagar in Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu, with postal code 608002. The university also runs a PG Extension Centre at Salamedu, Villupuram; those programmes have a separate campus and admission prospectus.

Agriculture master’s students complete major, minor, supporting and common coursework, a seminar and supervised thesis research under an advisory committee. The common regulations allocate 30 of 70 credits to thesis research and require 80%attendance separately in theory and practical subjects.


## Hostel, food and safety

Hostel accommodation is available for agriculture students. The historical 2025-26 annual hostel-and-mess charges were 60000 INR for the men’s Sekizhar Block with attached bathroom and 50000 INR for Thamarai Illam women’s hostel, plus 5000 INRcaution deposit. Current charges and room allotment need a new quotation; category-specific concessions have separate conditions.

University agriculture hostels have mess arrangements included in the published hostel-and-mess charge. Room category, mess charge and refundable caution deposit should be included separately in a current accommodation quotation.

Ragging is prohibited. Established ragging can lead to removal from the university. Campus rules prohibit anti-social activity, and applicants accept the university rules at admission.

Annamalai scheduled first-year M.Sc. Agriculture classes for 22 October 2026 at 10 am. That historical date does not announce a future intake; the next application and class-start schedule must be newly notified.

### What should I budget?

Obtain a current full fee quotation for the chosen aided or self-supporting category. Include tuition, compulsory charges, campus logistics, meal arrangements, deposits and examination costs; a historic combined annual charge is not a current tuition figure.

### Is campus logistics accommodation available?
