## Admissions

The captured central international admission guides are for 2026. Use the exact programme, degree level and English-language entry in the catalogue; Chinese-only routes and doctorates are outside this batch. Application requires qualification review and interview assessment. Next-cycle dates and programme fees must be confirmed.

## Why students choose it

- Compare English undergraduate routes in AI, robotics, computing and electronic information.
- Explore school-specific English master’s routes in marine engineering, control, materials, energy and sciences.
- Consider an English Civil Engineering double degree with a defined 3+1 HEU/Aberdeen structure.

## Things to consider

- The captured international admission cycle is 2026 and its application windows are closed;2027 dates are unverified.
- Civil Engineering requires a UK fourth year and separateGBP tuition, English progression and travel arrangements.
- Three English undergraduate programmes have no verified programme-specific annual tuition quote.

## Best fit for

- Students prepared for engineering CSCA Mathematics and Physics.
- Graduates seeking a three-year English master’s with programme-specific review and interview.
- Civil applicants able to plan both the Harbin and compulsory Aberdeen study phases.

## Campus and city

The main Harbin campus is at 145 Nantong Street in Nangang District. In 2023,267 smart classrooms were introduced, alongside library seminar rooms and the Education Resource Cloud. The sports complex includes competition, swimming and training halls. HEU also operates locations in Qingdao and Yantai; confirm the teaching campus in the exact programme offer.

HEU’s main campus is in Harbin, Heilongjiang. The 2026 international guide budgetsCNY 1,500–2,500 per month for living expenses, with housing, insurance and registration-related charges separately listed. Civil Engineering joint-degree students must also budget for the compulsory final year in Aberdeen, Scotland.

HEU’s marine and shipbuilding portfolio includes naval/ocean structures, marine engines and underwater acoustics. The AI undergraduate brochure names machine learning, pattern recognition, machine vision, image processing, data mining and robotics. The Harbin smart-campus system supports remote experimental teaching linked with Qingdao and Yantai. No guaranteed placement or employment outcome is claimed.

## Hostel, food and safety

The Foreign Student Apartment offers single, double and family rooms with a refrigerator, television and broadband connection, plus public laundry and kitchen facilities. The 2026 international guide lists five housing tiers: CNY 400,800,1,400,2,000 and 2,600 per month, depending on room type. A particular room or rate is subject to allocation; the International Exchange Center is primarily visitor accommodation.

Four campus canteens serve breakfast, lunch and dinner with Chinese regional cuisines; mobile payment and campus cards are supported. The Foreign Student Apartment has a public kitchen. A guaranteed Indian meal plan or specialist dietary service has not been established.

The university hospital provides general medical, first-aid and preventive services. The 2026 guide lists insurance CNY 800/year or 400/six months, physical examination CNY 400 and residence-permit charges CNY 400–800 at registration. Submit the required physical examination and non-criminal record.

International admission uses qualification review, interview assessment and application-system/email communication. Applicants provide financial-support evidence and a study plan; under 18 students need guardian documents in Harbin. Students Traffic can help organise the exact programme checklist and compare fee and mobility requirements.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is HEU a public university?

Harbin Engineering University is a state-established university in Harbin with roots in 1953. The 2026 Ministry of Education directory lists it under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology; institutional recognition does not determine a particular country’s professional registration.
