## Admissions

Use the exact campus application system and programme requirements. Harbin international undergraduate routes require CSCA and a minimum English-cohort size. Shenzhen undergraduate routes add an online entrance examination; design master’s routes require a portfolio.

## Why students choose it

- Compare English-taught computing, engineering, science, management and design routes.
- Choose between exact Harbin and Shenzhen campus programmes.
- Review named schools, qualification titles and programme-specific durations.

## Things to consider

- Harbin English undergraduate classes require at least twenty enrolled students.
- Fees, guardian rules, assessments and application systems differ by campus.
- Published 2026 deadlines have passed; confirm the next entry cycle.

## Best fit for

- Applicants comparing exact English-taught degrees and campus conditions.
- Master’s applicants ready to prepare recommendations and a substantial study plan.
- Design applicants with a developed portfolio and personal statement.

## Campus and city

HIT operates across Harbin, Weihai and Shenzhen. The Harbin international programme lists name the exact teaching school; Shenzhen has its own application system and programme prospectuses. Shenzhen’s Future Design School provides facilities including motion capture, digital fabrication and immersive CAVE systems for design study.

The main international education office is at No. 92 West Dazhi Street in Harbin’s Nangang District. Shenzhen routes are based in Shenzhen University Town, Guangdong. Confirm the teaching campus before comparing accommodation and travel arrangements.

Shenzhen Future Design School uses portfolios and project work in design education, with motion capture, digital fabrication and immersive facilities. The exact Master of Design and Master of Arts routes have different durations and fees. Course titles and research directions elsewhere do not establish guaranteed internships or employment.

## Hostel, food and safety

The Harbin admission guide quotes CNY 800–1,000 per month per bed, excluding water, electricity and internet. Shenzhen first-year master’s students may apply for triple or quad rooms, allocated first come, first served; availability is limited and accommodation beyond the first year is not guaranteed. Shenzhen room and utility rates are announced during reservation.

Harbin’s campus dining facilities include Xuezi Building, Xueyuan Building and Halal Canteen on the first campus, with Qingze and Jinxiu canteens on the second campus. Meal costs are separate from the quoted accommodation bed charge.

International applications require a physical examination and non-criminal record. The published insurance reference is CNY 800 per year. Follow the campus arrival and registration instructions and retain valid examination documents.

The College of International Education manages the Harbin international application route. Shenzhen colleges handle programme assessments and scholarship decisions. Students Traffic can help compare campus-specific requirements and plan the application documents.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is HIT the same as Harbin Engineering University?

No. Harbin Institute of Technology and Harbin Engineering University are separately named institutions on the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology list. This profile concerns Harbin Institute of Technology and its verified campus routes.

### Which campus would I study at?

Choose the campus attached to the exact programme. Harbin and Shenzhen use different international application systems, fees and admission assessments. A programme at one campus does not establish an identical route at another.

### Which AI and computing undergraduate routes are available?

The Harbin English catalogue includes Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science and Technology, Robot Engineering, Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering and Automation. Shenzhen separately lists Computer Science and Technology. Review the exact programme and campus requirements.

### Can an English undergraduate class be cancelled?

Harbin requires at least twenty enrolled students for an English-taught undergraduate class to start. Classes below that threshold are cancelled. Confirm the cohort arrangements before making final travel or financial commitments.

### What are the undergraduate English requirements?

Harbin publishes Academic IELTS above 6.0, with no component below 5.5, or TOEFL iBT above 80. Shenzhen lists IELTS at least 6.0, with no component below 5.5, TOEFL at least 80 or Duolingo at least 115. Prior English-medium evidence can be accepted under each campus’s rules.

### Do undergraduates need CSCA and an entrance test?

CSCA subjects depend on the programme. Shenzhen also runs an online English entrance examination: Mathematics and Physics or Mathematics alone, matching the programme category. The final Shenzhen admission decision requires the CSCA result.

### How do the tuition references compare?

The 2026 English tuition references are CNY 26,000 per year for Harbin undergraduate study and CNY 34,000 for Harbin master’s study. Shenzhen lists CNY 30,000 for undergraduate and CNY 35,000 for general master’s study. Shenzhen design master’s routes have separate CNY 60,000 or CNY 70,000 annual references; confirm the next-cycle rate.

### Is Business Administration an MBA?

The Harbin international list names Business Administration as an academic master’s subject; Shenzhen names Business Administration as a Master of Science. These entries should not be assumed to be MBA programmes with the same work-experience or professional-award rules.

### How long are computing master’s programmes?

Harbin’s current English list gives 2.5 years for Computer Science and Technology and Software Engineering. Shenzhen Computer Technology is a separate three-year Master of Electronic and Information Engineering route. Exact award and campus matter.

### What distinguishes the design master’s routes?

Shenzhen Future Design School lists a two-year Master of Design and a three-year Master of Arts route. Applications need a 500–800-word statement and a portfolio of five to ten works in a PDF no larger than 20 MB. Their tuition and scholarship schedules differ from general Shenzhen master’s study.

### Do master’s applicants need a supervisor acceptance letter?

Harbin encourages an acceptance letter but does not make it mandatory for the general international master’s application. Shenzhen’s general prospectus makes it mandatory for doctoral applicants. Follow any exact school assessment or additional-document request.

### Are scholarships and housing automatic?

Scholarship awards and continuation depend on the campus rules and review. Shenzhen general entrance scholarships and design scholarships use different percentages. Shenzhen master’s accommodation is limited and first come, first served; receiving an offer does not guarantee a room.

### Are the 2026 application dates still open?

The published 2026 deadlines have passed. Harbin’s reference deadlines were 15 July for undergraduate and 31 May for master’s entry; Shenzhen’s general deadline was 20 May, with a separate May window for design. Check the next entry-cycle notice before applying.
