## Admissions

The 2027 international route uses exact programme and degree-form entries. Complete academic review before uploading the non-academic documents as directed. Supervisor acceptance requirements, CSCA subjects, language tests and payment deadlines vary by degree level and school.

## Why students choose it

- Explore English undergraduate study in manufacturing, telecommunications, software, biomedical engineering and pharmacy.
- Compare two-year English master’s routes across engineering, life sciences, economics, management and public administration.
- Choose between distinct academic and professional master’s forms where the current catalogue explicitly offers both.

## Things to consider

- Many master’s schools require a prospective supervisor’s acceptance letter with the online application.
- The master’s application and fee deadline is 25 February 2027, earlier than the undergraduate rounds.
- The China-EU clean-energy master’s has a separateCNY 40,000 annualtariff.

## Best fit for

- High-school applicants ready for exact CSCA subject combinations and documented English proficiency.
- Graduates with a strong academic record, writing sample and a research proposal exceeding 1,000 words.
- Students prepared to compare school-specific supervisor requirements and university-assigned housing.

## Campus and city

The Main Campus is at 1037 LuoyuRoad, HongshanDistrict, Wuhan; Tongji Medical College has a separate medical campus. The current non-medical master’s catalogue explicitly identifies Main Campus delivery. Use the programme’s school and formal notice for final cohort registration and accommodation allocation.

HUST is based in Wuhan, Hubei, with distinct Main and Tongji medical campus services. The 2027 guide quotes university accommodation monthly and lists insurance, physical-examination and residence-permit charges separately. A school’s academic location and the assigned student apartment are separate arrangements; compare both before planning arrival.

The international English portfolio covers manufacturing, telecommunications, software, biomedical engineering and pharmacy at undergraduate level. Master’s choices include laboratory and research fields across life sciences, materials, clean energy and engineering, alongside economics and management. Applicants submit a research proposal and writing sample; many schools require a prospective supervisor’s acceptance. No placement or employment outcome is promised.

## Hostel, food and safety

The 2027 guide lists single rooms atCNY 1,200/month and double rooms atCNY 700–900/month, with a private bathroom, water heater, air conditioning, internet and furniture. International apartments include Bojingge, Friendship and Tongji-campus housing. Rooms are assigned through the international office’s overall arrangements; no particular apartment or room is guaranteed.

Campus canteens include Yunyuan, Xue 1, Xue 2, East 3, East 4, Dongli, West 1, West 2 and Baijing. The international-student housing and dining guide also lists three Muslim canteens, cafés and bakeries. A guaranteed Indian meal plan or specific dietary package has not been established.

The 2027 guide lists insurance atCNY 1,000/year and a physical examination atCNY 300–500. Emergency numbers are 110 police,120 first aid and 119 fire. The safety office lists separate Main and Tongji campus emergency contacts; use the contacts for the actual study location.

The International Admission and Cooperation Office handles international admission and programme cooperation; the medical campus has its own international student office. School review, document upload and official-email decisions are part of the admission process. Students Traffic can help compare exact programme requirements and application documents.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is HUST a public university in Wuhan?

Huazhong University of Science and Technology is listed in China’s Ministry of Education directory as a university under the ministry in Wuhan. Its official founding year is 1952; the present institution followed the 2000 merger with Tongji Medical University and Wuhan Urban Construction Institute. It is distinct from Huazhong Agricultural University, Central China Normal University and Hanoi HUST.

### Which English undergraduate subjects are covered?

The supported portfolio includes Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Software Engineering, Biomedical Engineering and Pharmacy, each four years. The undergraduate programme and school determine the exact test subjects and fee category.

### How long are the English master’s programmes?

The 2027 central guide gives English master’s duration as two years. The portfolio includes academic programmes and separately marked professional routes, such as International Business and professional Public Administration. Degree forms retain their exact catalogue distinction; no unverified MSc/MEng abbreviation is substituted.

### Do all master’s applicants need a supervisor acceptance letter?

No. The central guide makes the letter optional except where the programme list marks it as required. Chemistry, Mechanical, Materials, Life Science, Computing and several other schools have marked entries; economics and other unmarked rows follow the central optional rule. Use the exact programme checklist.

### What are the master’s academic thresholds?

Applicants need a bachelor’s degree or equivalent and strong academic potential. Central minima are GPA 3.0/4.0,3.75/5.0 or 75/100, with other equivalent grading systems accepted. The guide specifies birth on or after 1 September 1992; school admission criteria may be higher than these minima.

### Which English scores are required?

Undergraduate minima are TOEFL 80, IELTS 5.5 orDuolingo 110; master’s minima are TOEFL 80, IELTS 6.0 orDuolingo 120. HUST may recognise equivalent certificates. The guide also provides a prior Chinese/English-medium education exemption; master’s applicants still follow the online language-test procedure.

### Which CSCA subjects apply to undergraduate study?

Intelligent Manufacturing, Telecommunications and Software Engineering require Mathematics and Physics. Biomedical Engineering and Pharmacy require Mathematics and Chemistry. The current English rows do not mark a professional Chinese subject; do not copy another programme’s test combination.

### What nationality and guardian rules apply?

Relevant former-Chinese cases must satisfy MOE Document 12(2020), including the specified foreign citizenship and overseas-residence history. Applicants under 18 by 1 September 2027 need guardian authorisation and a legal guardian’s guarantee in China. The university reviews authentic nationality and qualification documents.

### What are the 2027 application deadlines?

Undergraduate applications opened 26 October 2026, with rounds closing 15 April 2027 and 30 June 2027. Master’s applications run 15 October 2026–25 February 2027 and the fee must be paid by 25 February. Undergraduate fee payment is due within 15 days after completing the online application.

### What tuition should I budget?

The four engineering undergraduate routes costCNY 30,000/year and PharmacyCNY 35,000/year. Ordinary English master’s routes in the published science, engineering, economics and management categories costCNY 38,000/year; the China-EU clean-energy master’s exception isCNY 40,000/year. These are gross tuition quotes, without assuming a scholarship.

### What application documents do master’s students submit?

Prepare degree and transcripts, a personal statement, CV, a self-introduction video of no more than 60 seconds, a research proposal exceeding 1,000 words, a writing sample, language evidence and two professor/associate-professor recommendations. Marked schools also require a prospective supervisor’s acceptance. Passport, physical examination, non-criminal record and financial/scholarship documents follow the directed non-academic stage.

### How much are housing and other charges?

The 2027 guide lists single rooms atCNY 1,200/month and double rooms atCNY 700–900/month. It separately lists application feeCNY 800, insuranceCNY 1,000/year, physical examinationCNY 300–500 and residence permitCNY 400/year. Apartment and room assignment follows the university’s arrangements.

### Does this profile guarantee professional recognition or employment?

No. University listing establishes institutional status rather than overseas professional registration. Applicants should compare the actual qualification and any destination-specific registration process before choosing a regulated profession. School review, admission, scholarships and employment remain separate decisions.
