## Campus and city

The Otteri Road campus brings together arts, science, commerce and postgraduate departments. The college maintains academic, library and examination information on its website. The current government admission matrix distinguishes subject, shift and teaching medium; choose the exact route when planning attendance and study.

The campus is on Otteri Road, Bagayam, Vellore 632002, Tamil Nadu, using mgacvlr.edu.in. Its government arts and science application code is 1081004. This is Muthurangam Government Arts College, affiliated to Thiruvalluvar University, distinct from similarly named private colleges and from Government Vellore Medical College.

The current course directory separates academic subjects and applied study such as Computer Science and Nutrition and Dietetics. Science and computing degrees have different curriculum and assessment requirements from arts and commerce. Ask the department about the current practical, project and laboratory arrangements for the selected degree; admission does not guarantee an internship or placement.

## Hostel, food and safety

The 2026 government college booklet lists no college hostel for boys or girls and records welfare-hostel availability for both. Confirm the responsible authority, eligibility, allocation, charges and travel arrangements separately. Academic admission does not establish a hostel room or a meal entitlement.

Current meal services, mess charges and individual dietary arrangements have not been verified for these entries. Students planning welfare accommodation or independent residence should check meals, allergy handling and any medical dietary needs before committing to accommodation.

Obtain current college contacts for academic concerns, student welfare and emergencies when enrolling. Discuss individual access and travel needs directly. Academic admission and a public-college listing do not establish a particular safety outcome or residence supervision arrangement.

The college’s NIRF 2025 submission records library expenditure and accessibility provisions, including ramps or lifts and adapted toilets in some buildings. Confirm current assistance, service locations and individual access requirements directly. Financial assistance and other benefits require their own category and document checks.

## Frequently asked questions

### Which Muthurangam college is this?

This is the government arts and science college on Otteri Road, Bagayam, Vellore 632002, using mgacvlr.edu.in and government application code 1081004. It is affiliated to Thiruvalluvar University and has separate admissions from Government Vellore Medical College.

### Is this a coeducational college?

The current 2026 government admission booklet explicitly identifies the college as coeducational. These entries cover the regular domestic first-year UG route; international, lateral-entry and transfer routes need separate verification.

### Which degrees are included?

The supported portfolio includes regular B.A., B.Sc. and B.Com. choices with separate shift and language sections where listed. BBA and postgraduate or research admissions require additional programme-specific review and are not established by these entries.

### How long are these UG degrees?

The college’s own NIRF 2025 submission records the ordinary three-year undergraduate framework, and the current 2026 government matrix continues these named B.A., B.Sc. and B.Com. routes. No honours extension or shortened exit is assumed.

### Which school subjects are needed?

Requirements vary by degree. Mathematics applies to Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science; Chemistry applies to Zoology under the DCE subject-group rule. Commerce requires Commerce and Accountancy. Read the exact subject, vocational and language-ranking provisions for your selected route.

### How are English and Tamil sections identified?

The government booklet separately labels English and Tamil sections for several subjects. Select the exact shift and section. The B.A. English and B.A. Tamil rows do not separately establish instruction medium, so their language arrangements require direct confirmation.

### What age rules apply in 2026?

The dated 2026 DCE framework sets an upper age limit of 40 as on 1 July 2026, with specified category relaxations. The college assesses certificates and applicable rules. Check the next official framework for any later admission cycle.

### How do I apply?

Use the notified Tamil Nadu government arts and science college admission process, choose code 1081004 and the exact subject, shift and medium, then follow the college rank list and counselling notice. Merit, reservation and original-document verification determine selection.

### Which documents should I prepare?

Prepare HSC marksheets, transfer and earlier school records, application details and identity documents. Bring valid community, disability, special-reservation or other certificates when claiming a benefit, and recognised equivalence documents when required.

### Are current programme fees confirmed?

Published combined-charge references are indicative and do not establish the current shift or category tariff. Some printed totals include an optional computer-literacy charge. Request current tuition, compulsory and optional charges, examinations and accommodation separately.

### Is campus logistics accommodation included?

The 2026 government booklet lists no college campus logistics and records welfare-campus logistics availability for boys and girls. Welfare accommodation has separate eligibility and allocation checks; an academic offer does not establish a room, meals or an accommodation allowance.

### When do first-year classes begin?

A programme-specific first-entry teaching month has not been verified for these entries. Check current official application, counselling and reporting notices. Examination, application and counselling dates should not be treated as class commencement dates.
