## Admissions

Choose the exact programme, teaching school and English direction. Undergraduate and master’s applications have different academic, test and document requirements; competitive funding schemes have their own additional conditions.

## Why students choose it

- Subject-specific English options connect forestry, wildlife conservation, animal science, environmental study, engineering and international trade.
- Research directions remain attached to exact programme codes and teaching schools, helping applicants compare academic fit.
- Forestry and Forestry Engineering are the university’s two disciplines on the government’s second-round Double First-Class list.

## Things to consider

- Most international catalogue entries are Chinese taught; English availability is limited to explicitly marked subjects and directions.
- English Applied Economics is restricted to International Trade in the current Chinese table.
- TOEFL boundary wording differs between general guidance and scholarship schemes; exact boundary-score eligibility requires confirmation.

## Best fit for

- Students seeking English study connected with forestry, wildlife, environmental systems or related resource disciplines.
- Applicants prepared to match a research direction and teaching school before pursuing a master’s project.
- Undergraduate applicants interested in International Economics and Trade who can complete the CSCA requirements.

## Campus and city

The School of International Education and Exchanges coordinates international-student education and daily support from the Hexing Road campus in Harbin. The university’s living guide describes campus dining and shared kitchens in the international apartments. Registration involves both the international school and the academic teaching unit. Confirm current facilities, housing allocation and the research location before arranging arrival.

Harbin is the university’s stated study location and the international office is at 26 Hexing Road, Xiangfang District. Plan accommodation and daily travel around the confirmed school and research arrangements. The university’s forestry teaching and research bases extend beyond its main campus, so a field-based project may require separate planning; routine participation in those bases is not guaranteed for every programme.

The university identifies Maoershan and Liangshui experimental forest facilities as teaching, research and practice bases. English master’s directions include forest genetics, silviculture, protection and management, conservation, protected areas, animal science and ecological restoration. Access to a particular field site, laboratory or project follows the teaching school and research plan. No paid placement or employment outcome is promised.

## Hostel, food and safety

The current international admission pages quote twin rooms at CNY 500 per person per month and single rooms at CNY 1,000 per person per month. Keep these as monthly quotes and confirm billing periods and availability with the international school. CSC and other awards describe accommodation benefits under their own conditions; a standard admission offer alone does not establish free housing.

The university’s international living guide describes student dining halls and shared apartment kitchens, allowing students to combine campus meals with self-catering. Confirm current kitchen equipment, access rules, food options and personal dietary requirements before arrival. A dedicated certified dietary service is not established by the reviewed sources, and older named restaurant or supermarket suggestions are not treated as current recommendations.

Applicants submit the prescribed medical examination, non-criminal record and financial guarantee. The admission pages quote insurance at CNY 800 annually, and the living guide directs international students to complete registration and follow apartment rules. Ask the international school for current insurance, emergency and residence procedures before travel. No comparative campus-safety rating is asserted.

The dedicated contact page separates recruitment and applicant examination from student management and scholarship assessment. The Admission Office can clarify application requirements, while Student Affairs handles ongoing student services. Programme pages also list regional advisers. Use the official portal, keep the original medical and academic documents, and confirm the exact teaching school and funding checklist before submission.

## Frequently asked questions

### Which programmes are available in English?

The current international tables establish International Economics and Trade at bachelor’s level and nine master’s programme/school routes. Master’s options include Environmental Science and Engineering, Forestry at two teaching schools, Animal Husbandry, Applied Economics restricted to International Trade, Forestry Engineering, Biology, Ecology, and daily living Science and Engineering. Chinese-only programmes remain outside this English portfolio.

### How are the master’s research directions organised?

Directions belong to the exact programme code and teaching school. Forestry at the School of Forestry lists seven English directions, while Forestry at the Wildlife and Protected Area college lists two. Animal Husbandry has four directions and Environmental Science and Engineering has two. These are not separate degree awards for every research direction.

### How long do the programmes take?

The current international master’s catalogue explicitly gives three years. International Economics and Trade is four years in the university’s current native subject table, which identifies a Bachelor of Economics. The two levels have separate academic requirements and English tuition categories.

### When should I apply for 2027 entry?

General degree applications are due before 30 June 2027 through istudy.nefu.edu.cn, with September 2027 enrolment. The March 2028 date is the spring teaching term, not a verified second degree intake. Scholarship pages describe earlier annual windows; confirm the exact current scheme deadline rather than treating the general deadline as its funding deadline.

### What English evidence is required?

General guidance accepts IELTS 6.0 for the English undergraduate route and IELTS 6.5 for master’s routes, or other English proficiency certificates. TOEFL boundary wording differs: general pages say above 80/above 95, while scholarship pages use their own thresholds. Exact boundary-score eligibility remains unconfirmed; ask the admissions office about the intended route before relying on it.

### What academic requirements apply?

General undergraduate guidance requires high-school graduation or equivalent; master’s guidance requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Both require non-Chinese citizenship and good mental and physical health. General pages do not state a universal age limit. CSC ages and other scholarship conditions apply to their own funding schemes.

### Is CSCA required for the English undergraduate programme?

Yes. The undergraduate guidance requires the score report and Mathematics for all applicants, with Physics or Chemistry confirmed by major. English-medium applicants do not take Professional Chinese. CSCA is not transferred to master’s applications. Confirm the exact additional test subjects for International Economics and Trade with NEFU.

### Does a master’s application require a supervisor letter?

The general page provides the official supervisor directory for research matching, but does not establish a mandatory prior acceptance letter. Master’s applicants must submit two recommendations from professors or associate professors and a research plan of at least 1,000 words in Chinese or English. Follow additional requirements in the exact funding notice or assessment request.

### What are the tuition and housing costs?

Published English tuition is CNY 21,500 annually for the undergraduate route and CNY 30,000 annually for master’s study. Application is CNY 400 and insurance CNY 800 per year. Housing is CNY 500 per person per month in a twin room or CNY 1,000 per person per month in a single room. These monthly housing quotes are not annualised; confirm room availability and actual billing.

### How does CSC funding work?

The standing CSC page describes Type B applications in both the CSC and NEFU systems, agency 10225, during an annual November–March window. Undergraduate applicants must be under 25 with IELTS 6.0/TOEFL 90 or above; master’s applicants under 35 with IELTS 6.5/TOEFL 95 or above. It describes tuition, on-campus housing and application-fee exemption, insurance and monthly allowances of CNY 2,500 undergraduate/CNY 3,000 master’s. Selection is conditional and scholarships cannot be stacked.

### What does the President Scholarship cover?

It is for self-financed international undergraduate or master’s applicants and lasts one year. First Class waives tuition and accommodation, Second Class tuition, and Third Class half tuition. The page gives an annual 30 April deadline and its own language/document conditions. This is not a guaranteed scholarship for the whole degree, and a current award decision is required.

### Who is the Eurasian scholarship intended for?

Its listed main candidate nationalities are Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. It covers graduate study under its own age, language and research conditions, using an annual November–February window. It describes tuition/housing exemption, CNY 800 annual insurance and CNY 3,000 monthly master’s allowance. This scheme’s nationality scope is not a general admission restriction.

### Who handles official admission questions?

The School of International Education and Exchanges lists SIEE@nefu.edu.cn as its general office email. The dedicated contact page identifies Liu Lifei in the Admission Office for recruitment and applicant examination, telephone +86 451 82192454, email liulifei_pamela@163.com. Programme pages separately list regional advisers; South and West Asia are assigned to Ms Lily at nefulml@163.com. Confirm routing and use the official application system; university decisions govern admission and funding.
