## Campus and city

The college is on E.V.R. Periyar High Road in the Shenoy Nagar and Chetput area of Chennai. Students can access departmental and central libraries, laboratories, sports and student-service activities. The state granted co-educational status in June 2026; accommodation eligibility is a separate matter from degree admission.

The Chennai campus has access to city bus, rail and Metro networks, according to the college. Plan the actual commute around your department’s reporting time and location. Compare accommodation, food, transport and personal expenses separately from tuition, and verify available accommodation before making a residence commitment.

Academic practical work depends on the degree. The college describes laboratories, departmental libraries, seminars and student activities across its arts, commerce and science departments. Review the exact syllabus for the selected award and ask about its assessed projects or practical components. Placement training or a college event does not guarantee an internship, individual recruitment or a particular salary.

## Hostel, food and safety

The college describes an attached men’s hostel and states that hostel accommodation cannot be claimed as a right through college admission. Its self-financing information says female students can receive guidance in finding nearby paying-guest accommodation. Confirm vacancy, eligibility, residence rules, charges and meal terms independently.

A specific current hostel menu, allergy service or specialist dietary arrangement has not been verified. Applicants should confirm food arrangements and individual dietary requirements directly with the accommodation provider before accepting a place.

The college publishes anti-ragging information and links student complaint and welfare mechanisms, including its Internal Complaints Committee. Obtain current reporting contacts and student-conduct instructions during enrolment. Published committees and rules do not guarantee any individual safety outcome.

The college lists scholarship information, library facilities, NCC, NSS, Youth Red Cross and placement-training activities. Financial support depends on the exact scheme and category requirements; admission alone does not establish a scholarship entitlement. Confirm accessibility arrangements and programme-specific support with the college.

## Frequently asked questions

### Which Pachaiyappa’s College is this?

This is the Chennai institution on E.V.R. Periyar High Road, established in 1842 and affiliated to the University of Madras. Pachaiyappa’s College for Men in Kanchipuram and other colleges managed by the Trust have separate identities and admission material.

### Can women apply?

The state granted the Chennai college co-educational status through its June 2026 government order. The current prospectus also explicitly identifies postgraduate study as co-educational. Older men-only undergraduate wording should not be treated as the current universal rule.

### What is needed for BA Tamil?

The current prospectus requires a pass in the Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary examination or an equivalent examination recognised by the University of Madras. Complete the college’s selection process and original-document checks.

### What is needed for these postgraduate degrees?

The prospectus requires a three-year BA, BSc or BCom degree with the subject concerned as the main. Economics applicants therefore need the Economics main-subject route, and Tamil applicants should confirm acceptance of the qualifying Tamil main subject.

### Which teaching language is verified?

The college’s named AISHE programme return records Tamil for BA Tamil, MA Tamil and MA Economics. These records support the listed Tamil routes; they do not guarantee an English-only section. Confirm current teaching arrangements before enrolment.

### When do classes begin?

A verified first-year teaching-start month is not established for these exact entries. Counselling dates are separate from academic commencement. Follow the college’s applicable admission, selection and reporting notices.

### What do the displayed fees include?

The amount is the isolated tuition component. Admission, special and university charges remain additional. The government UG tuition waiver does not make the whole programme free; confirm the complete payable quote before payment.

### Are there PG tuition waivers?

The current prospectus states a tuition waiver for SC/ST postgraduate students. Category verification and all other applicable charges remain separate. This is not a blanket waiver of every programme expense.

### How do applications work?

Use the official online portal, enter academic details, choose an eligible programme and pay its application charge. Check rank lists and SMS or email for interview or selection instructions and attend with the printed application and required records.

### What documents are required?

The portal asks for the printed application, three passport-size photographs, marks statement, Community Certificate and Transfer Certificate. Postgraduate applicants should prepare their qualifying-degree records; a degree from another university requires the Madras provisional eligibility certificate stated by the college.

### Is campus logistics accommodation guaranteed?

No. The college describes a men’s campus logistics and explicitly says a college place does not create a right to campus logistics accommodation. Female students are offered guidance for nearby paying-guest options; confirm availability, terms and charges separately.

### Can overseas applicants use these entries?

These entries verify the domestic regular aided route. Overseas and NRI admission conditions, qualification treatment and fee categories have not been established here. Obtain the college’s exact category confirmation before relying on an international route.
