## Admissions

The current international degree guides are for 2026. Use the exact English-starred programme and campus in the catalogue, with the degree-specific language and document rules. The historical deadlines are closed; 2027 admission dates and fees are unverified.

## Why students choose it

- Compare three distinct English undergraduate routes in business, financial technology and international economics and trade.
- Explore English master’s study in foreign languages, area studies or civil engineering.
- Consider an ASEAN-focused financial technology class that also welcomes non-ASEAN applicants.

## Things to consider

- The verified central guides cover 2026; their application windows are closed and 2027 degree dates remain unverified.
- Yuehai and Lihu accommodation differs in room type and price, with no guaranteed university room.
- English master’s applicants must obtain a potential supervisor’s prescribed recommendation before applying.

## Best fit for

- Students comparing English business, economics and technology-related bachelor’s study in Shenzhen.
- Graduates prepared to contact a supervisor and develop a research-focused master’s application.
- Applicants able to plan housing alternatives and budget beyond tuition.

## Campus and city

SZU has Yuehai and Lihu campuses. The English business and financial technology undergraduate routes and all three English master’s entries use Yuehai; International Economics and Trade uses Lihu. The library system includes Huidian and Huizhi buildings at Yuehai and Qiming Library at Lihu, opened in October 2022.

Shenzhen University is in Shenzhen, Guangdong. Its English international programmes are split between Yuehai and Lihu rather than one shared teaching location. Applicants should compare the programme campus with its housing options: the 2026 guide quotes very different accommodation tariffs and warns that university rooms are in short supply.

The WeBank ASEAN FinTech route combines economics, finance and computing with university–industry dual mentorship; named modules include Python, data structures, machine learning and large language model applications. The English Civil Engineering master’s includes soil mechanics, numerical methods, green construction materials and AI for engineers. TESOC and Neurolinguistics are directions within the foreign-languages master’s; no placement or employment outcome is promised.

## Hostel, food and safety

The 2026 guide lists Yuehai single and twin rooms at CNY 2,400–8,000/person/semester, and Lihu four-bed rooms at CNY 750/person/semester. Water and electricity are billed separately. Campus rooms are in short supply; students may be placed off campus at separately announced rates, and must arrange their own housing if neither campus nor off-campus accommodation is available.

Dormitory charges exclude water and electricity, so these need a separate living budget. The current international admission tariff does not publish a meal charge or establish a guaranteed Indian meal plan. Compare daily living arrangements at the actual programme campus.

International students must buy SZU’s designated group comprehensive insurance, listed at CNY 400/semester in the 2026 guide. Registration is refused without the required insurance. A Foreigner Physical Examination Form is also part of the admission checklist.

The College of International Exchange manages degree admissions, application status and registration documents. Faculty panels review applications and may request remote or in-person interviews. Students Traffic can help assemble the exact degree checklist and compare campus and housing costs.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is Shenzhen University a public university?

Shenzhen University was established in 1983. China’s 2026 Ministry of Education directory lists it in Shenzhen under Guangdong Province; it is distinct from Shenzhen Technology University, Shenzhen Polytechnic University and foreign-university institutes located in the city.

### Which undergraduate programmes are available in English?

The 2026 international catalogue stars International Business Administration, Financial Technology (WeBank ASEAN Class), and International Economics and Trade as English-taught. Each lasts four years. Business and FinTech are at Yuehai; International Economics and Trade is at Lihu.

### Which master’s programmes are taught in English?

The 2026 international catalogue stars Foreign Languages and Literature and Area Studies, each two years, and Civil Engineering, three years. All three are listed at Yuehai campus. Chinese-taught programmes remain outside this English portfolio.

### Is the WeBank ASEAN Class restricted to ASEAN nationals?

No. The official programme introduction gives admission priority to ASEAN applicants and explicitly welcomes non-ASEAN applicants. It describes a four-year English-only Bachelor of Economics with economics, finance and computing study. Normal international admission conditions still apply.

### Are TESOC and Neurolinguistics separate degrees?

The current international catalogue lists one two-year Foreign Languages and Literature entry. Its introduction describes TESOC and Neurolinguistics as directions within the foreign-languages and applied-linguistics programme. This profile retains one parent offering rather than inventing separate awards.

### What are the undergraduate entry requirements?

Applicants normally need a high-school diploma and age 18–25, with good health and conduct. Under 18 applicants by 31 August provide the prescribed Power of Attorney. Relevant former-Chinese nationality cases must also satisfy the Ministry of Education document and overseas-residence requirements.

### What English test scores are required?

The 2026 undergraduate guide gives IELTS 5.5, TOEFL iBT 80 or Duolingo 100 or above; native-speaker exemption requires university recognition. The master’s guide requires English proficiency evidence for non-native speakers but does not publish a numerical test minimum. Undergraduate scores must not be copied to the master’s requirements.

### Must master’s applicants contact a supervisor?

Yes. The master’s application procedure says to contact a potential supervisor and obtain the prescribed recommendation letter. Applicants also supply two professor/associate-professor references, their bachelor’s records and an approximately 800-word personal statement. A faculty interview may be requested.

### What tuition is published for these programmes?

The 2026 tariff is CNY 26,000/year for the three English undergraduate routes, which appear in the Liberal Arts category. Foreign Languages and Literature and Area Studies use the master’s Liberal Arts rate of CNY 30,000/year; Civil Engineering uses the Science and Engineering rate of CNY 35,000/year. These are historical 2026 quotes; 2027 pricing is unverified.

### When can I apply for the next intake?

The recorded undergraduate 2026 rounds were 1 January–20 March and 20 March–31 May; the master’s window was 1 January–31 May. Those dates have passed. No 2027 international undergraduate or master’s calendar has been verified, and the domestic 2027 examination calendar does not establish one.

### How much does accommodation cost?

The 2026 guide lists Yuehai single or twin rooms at CNY 2,400–8,000/person/semester and Lihu four-bed rooms at CNY 750/person/semester, plus water and electricity. Rooms are in short supply. Off-campus placement may cost more, and students must find their own housing if no university-arranged option is available.

### What other fees and insurance apply?

The application charge is CNY 400, with USD 60 also quoted as an alternative, and is non-refundable. Students buy the designated group comprehensive insurance at CNY 400/semester; registration is refused without it. Housing and personal living expenses are separate.

### How do I apply and register?

Register through the College of International Exchange website, choose the exact degree programme and upload the complete documents with the fee voucher. The university sends decisions and registration information electronically. Follow the admission notice for the date and location, since early registration is not accepted and original qualifications are checked again.
