## Why students choose it

- Tagore Engineering College (TEC) publishes its fee-committee tuition: for 2025-26 admissions, INR 50,000 a year for TNEA government-quota seats (INR 55,000 on NBA-accredited CSE, ECE and IT) and INR 35,000 a year for government-quota MBA seats.
- NBA accredits TEC's B.E. CSE, B.E. ECE, B.Tech IT and MBA for academic years 2024-25 to 2026-27, valid to 30 June 2027.
- In TEC's NIRF 2026 data, 158 of 160 B.E./B.Tech graduates of 2024-25 were placed at a median salary of INR 4,00,000.

## Things to consider

- Tagore Engineering College (TEC) is an affiliated, non-autonomous college, not a university: Anna University sets its syllabus and exams and awards its degrees, and there are no seats for international students because AICTE shows no NRI or foreign-national approval.
- TEC holds no current NAAC grade and has no NIRF rank, and some branches run well below capacity: its 2026-27 disclosure reports 13 Aeronautical and 16 Mechanical admissions against 30 seats each in 2025-26.
- TEC also runs an M.E. in Computer Science and Engineering and an M.E. in Environmental Engineering (18 seats each), but they are not listed here because no 2026-27 AICTE approval or state PG counselling record for them could be checked.

## Best fit for

- Tamil Nadu TNEA applicants who want an Anna University B.E. or B.Tech on Chennai's southern fringe near Vandalur with a published government-quota fee.
- Students interested in computing branches: CSE, IT, AI and Data Science and CSE (Cyber Security) make up 360 of TEC's 480 first-year places in TNEA 2026.
- Graduates who want an NBA-accredited, TANCET-route MBA in Chennai at a published government-quota tuition of INR 35,000 a year.

## Campus and city

Tagore Engineering College (TEC)'s campus on the Vandalur-Kelambakkam Road has four academic blocks, department laboratories including an aeronautical hangar with aero engines, a machine shop, a computer centre, a library, an auditorium, a 150-seat air-conditioned mini auditorium (Bharathiar Hall) and an open-air auditorium. Its 2026-27 disclosure lists indoor games, a gym, outdoor courts and grounds for ten sports, a cafeteria, a bank and lifts and ground-floor classrooms for students with disabilities. The cultural festival is called YASHAS.

Tagore Engineering College (TEC) is at Rathinamangalam on the Vandalur-Kelambakkam Main Road, Chennai 600127, in Vandalur taluk of Chengalpattu district, Tamil Nadu (AICTE's records still show the former Kanchipuram district). DoTE's TNEA 2026 booklet places it 40 km from the district headquarters and 7 km from Vandalur railway station. Anna University lists it among Chengalpattu district colleges with examination code 4127. The college is run by the Tagore Educational Trust, Chennai; Tagore Medical and Dental colleges are separate institutions not covered here.

Tagore Engineering College (TEC) is not autonomous, so it follows Anna University's curricula and regulations: the university sets the syllabus, conducts the end-semester exams and awards the degree, and the college runs internal assessment. AICTE makes an internship mandatory for every admitted student. The training and placement cell runs aptitude, personality and technical training. In TEC's NIRF 2026 engineering data, 158 of 160 B.E./B.Tech students graduating in 2024-25 were placed at a median salary of INR 4,00,000, and its management data show 47 of 53 MBA graduates placed at a median of INR 4,00,000. NBA accredits CSE, ECE, IT and the MBA to 30 June 2027.

## Hostel, food and safety

Tagore Engineering College (TEC) has permanent on-campus hostels for men and women, with furnished shared rooms and a campus clinic staffed by an MBBS doctor and a nurse. Its 2026-27 AICTE disclosure estimates boarding and lodging at INR 85,000 a year, and the Tamil Nadu MBA/MCA 2026-27 booklet lists room rent of INR 37,000, electricity of INR 11,000 and mess charges of INR 47,000 a year; confirm the current charge with the college.

Tagore Engineering College (TEC)'s hostel messes serve both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food for men and women, according to DoTE's TNEA 2026 college booklet. The MBA/MCA 2026-27 booklet lists the mess charge at INR 47,000 a year. TEC publishes no menu and no provision for specific regional or religious diets, so ask the hostel office before joining.

Tagore Engineering College (TEC)'s anti-ragging committee, chaired by the principal, includes the Thazhambur police inspector, the Vandalur revenue inspector, parent and student representatives and both hostel wardens, and covers the campus, bus stops and college buses. An internal complaints committee handles sexual-harassment complaints and reports to Anna University's POSH cell. TNEA 2026 publishes an anti-ragging phone number for the college.

Tagore Engineering College (TEC) handles complaints through a grievance redressal committee: students first raise an issue with the head of department, who must respond within 7 working days, and can then take it to the committee. An SC/ST committee guides students to scholarships, slow learners get teacher guardians and remedial classes, and sports-quota entrants get fee concessions.
