## Admissions

The 2027 international route uses the exact school and degree entry in Tianjin University’s catalogue. English instruction does not remove the Chinese graduation condition. Undergraduate CSCA, English MBA experience, architectural portfolio and institute fee requirements apply separately.

## Why students choose it

- Compare 13 English undergraduate entries across engineering, planning, architecture, pharmacy and supply chain management.
- Explore 39 school-specific English master’s entries with published durations and native-currency tuition.
- Choose between Tianjin schools and separately priced Shenzhen or Hainan international institute routes.

## Things to consider

- English-taught undergraduate and master’s students have Chinese proficiency graduation conditions at Levels 4 and 3 respectively.
- The English MBA requires relevant work experience and excludes applicants graduating in 2027.
- Shenzhen and Hainan institute fees differ substantially from the general Tianjin programme tariff.

## Best fit for

- Applicants ready to submit CSCA scores for the exact English undergraduate school and subject combination.
- Bachelor’s graduates seeking a two- to three-year English master’s with research documents and interview review.
- Students who can compare the exact school, location and fee basis before committing to a programme.

## Campus and city

The Weijin Road campus is at 92 Weijin Road, Nankai District; Peiyang Park campus is at 135 Yaguan Road in Jinnan. Programme location depends on the school. The English catalogue also includes Shenzhen and Hainan institute routes; a Tianjin university name does not mean every programme is taught in Tianjin.

Most listed schools are based on Tianjin’s Weijin Road or Peiyang Park campuses. Shenzhen International Institute entries are at the Shenzhen University Town International Campus in Nanshan, while Hainan entries are in the Lingshui Li’an International Education Innovation Pilot Zone. Compare the actual teaching location and housing arrangement when shortlisting.

The School of Marine Science and Technology describes marine detection, remote sensing, positioning, survey, data, chemistry and physics laboratories, together with the Sea Patrol-1505 boat and Chudao Marine Observation Base. English programmes also cover control, optical and instrument engineering, energy storage and biomedical engineering. These are academic facilities and subject routes; a placement or employment outcome is not guaranteed.

## Hostel, food and safety

International dormitories are available at Weijin Road and Peiyang Park, with online reservations required. Published rates include Weijin Road shared-bath quadruple rooms at CNY 15/bed/day, twin rooms from CNY30 and Youyuan ensuite singles at CNY60; Peiyang Park Liuyuan A ensuite singles are CNY40/bed/day. Allocation depends on the major and annual policy. Unsuccessful applicants receive off-campus accommodation information. These rates do not establish Shenzhen or Hainan housing costs.

Weijin Road has four student canteens, including a Muslim canteen on the second floor of No.5. Peiyang Park has six canteens, including Ju Yuan Muslim Canteen. No guaranteed Indian meal plan or programme-specific dietary package is established.

The 2027 admissions guide lists accidental injury and hospitalisation insurance at CNY 800/year. Applicants submit the prescribed physical examination and a valid non-criminal record or permitted fresh-graduate conduct evidence. Keep originals for registration and qualification review.

The International Student Service System manages applications, admission status and accommodation notices. The School of International Education coordinates international-student teaching, living and administrative support. Students Traffic can help compare exact school locations, fees and application documents.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is Tianjin University a public university?

Tianjin University is listed by China’s Ministry of Education as a higher-education institution under the Ministry of Education. Its roots date to Peiyang University in 1895. Institutional listing does not itself settle overseas professional registration.

### How many English programmes are covered?

The current 2027 international catalogues contain 13 English undergraduate entries and 39 English master’s entries. They include distinct schools and locations; Chinese-taught entries remain outside this English portfolio.

### Are all programmes taught in Tianjin?

No. Many schools use Weijin Road or Peiyang Park in Tianjin. The English catalogues separately name Shenzhen International Institute and Hainan International Institute, so compare the exact school and location rather than assuming one city.

### What undergraduate qualifications are required?

Applicants need a high-school diploma, age under 25 and the required CSCA results. Applicants under 18 on 1 September 2027 need a guardian certificate notarised in Tianjin with a guardian permanently resident there. Nationality and original-document review also applies.

### Which CSCA subjects do English applicants take?

Use English test papers. The subject combination depends on the school: for example, Pharmacy needs Mathematics and Chemistry, the architecture school needs Mathematics, and Civil Engineering needs Mathematics and Physics. English-taught programmes do not require the professional Chinese test.

### What English scores are required?

Undergraduate applicants normally submit IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 80. Master’s applicants normally submit IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 80 or Duolingo 110; accepted English-medium and native-speaker alternatives follow the degree-level guide. The English MBA has higher scores.

### Does English study require Chinese proficiency?

Yes. English undergraduate students must attain Level 4 of the Chinese Language Proficiency Scales for Speakers of Other Languages before graduation. English master’s students must attain Level 3; these graduation conditions differ from initial English admission requirements.

### What are the MBA requirements?

The English MBA requires IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 85, GPA above 3.2/4.0, at least one year of relevant work experience and a TJU supervisor acceptance letter. Applicants graduating in 2027 are not eligible to apply.

### What tuition is published?

The exact catalogue sets ordinary English undergraduate entries at CNY 20,000/year, architecture-school entries at CNY 26,000, Hainan Supply Chain Management at CNY 110,000 and Shenzhen undergraduate entries at CNY 130,000. Master’s fees also vary by school; Hainan Management Science and Engineering quotes CNY 276,000 for the full three years.

### When and how can I apply?

Apply through tju.at0086.cn/student for the exact catalogue entry. The 2027 central deadline is 31 May 2027; undergraduate scholarship applicants are asked to submit before 1 April 2027. Master’s interviews run February–June and decisions are announced in July; scholarship routes may have earlier deadlines.

### What documents do master’s applicants need?

Prepare degree and transcripts, English evidence, continuous study resume, a research plan of at least 1,000 words and two professor/associate-professor recommendations. Physical examination, non-criminal record and other applicable documents are also required. Architecture-school applicants submit electronic works and a video presentation.

### Is accommodation guaranteed?

No. International students reserve online, and the university allocates according to policy and programme campus. Tianjin dormitory rates range from CNY 15 to 60 per bed/day; if a reservation is unsuccessful, the university supplies off-campus housing information. Separate institute housing costs are unverified.

### What additional costs apply?

The central guide lists application fee CNY 500 after admission, with Chinese Government Scholarship winners exempt, and insurance CNY 800/year. Admitted undergraduates prepay a CNY 7,000 deposit plus the application charge; non-registration for personal reasons makes them non-refundable. Accommodation and personal costs are additional.
