## Admissions

Choose the exact academic programme and funding route, compare its official award and phase requirements, and confirm current admission instructions directly with UIBE.

## Why students choose it

- Nine general English undergraduate routes include an explicitly documented dual degree with BUCT.
- Sixteen general English master’s tracks retain their exact subjects and local award classifications.
- Distinct restricted academic routes have source-proven one-year or two-year 1+1 durations.

## Things to consider

- General, dual-degree and scholarship-specific requirements differ materially.
- Scholarship age/work boundaries conflict across current Chinese/English sources and require clarification.
- A one-year funded phase does not imply a one-year MIF/IMPA degree.

## Best fit for

- Applicants comparing exact English undergraduate subjects, including economics and engineering combinations.
- Bachelor’s graduates considering clearly differentiated English master’s tracks.
- Eligible experienced professionals assessing the separate restricted academic programmes.

## Campus and city

The official international admissions office is at International Plaza, 10 Huixin Dongjie, Chaoyang District, Beijing. The university’s profile describes an international academic community focused on economics, management, law and related fields. The UIBE–BUCT dual degree explicitly allows residence on either university’s campus and cross-institution courses. Other programmes do not inherit that campus arrangement. Confirm the actual teaching site, residence and registration instructions for your admitted academic route.

UIBE is in Beijing’s Chaoyang District. Its documented international office is at 10 Huixin Dongjie, and the dual programme additionally identifies BUCT Chaoyang accommodation. The academic profiles discuss field studies, public-policy institutions, financial organisations and business topics in China, but these descriptions do not guarantee access to any employer or government office. Plan daily travel and housing around the programme’s actual teaching location rather than assuming one campus allocation applies to all degrees.

The English undergraduate portfolio spans economics, trade, finance, business, marketing, politics and artificial intelligence. Linked curricula describe both economic analysis and applied business study. The AI route explicitly awards a Bachelor of Engineering and includes programming, machine learning, databases and language-processing topics. The jointly delivered economic-development/polymer programme adds materials experiments, processing and characterisation to development-policy and project study. Master’s profiles distinguish economics-based finance, logistics, international trade, WTO and quantitative routes from business, law, international relations, development and public-management study. Finance’s actuarial/risk track and the two Quantitative Economics tracks have different named curricula; they are not collapsed into a single indistinguishable course. The International Development curriculum includes aid, cooperation, policy, social research and a supervised thesis despite its exact Master of Law classification. The IEMBA, MIEC, MIF and IMPA Global Development and Governance routes are specifically designed taught academic programmes with their own credits, professional target groups and phases. Described field research, lectures, visits and practical study remain subject to actual arrangements. No placement, internship, employer access, professional licence or employment result is guaranteed.

## Hostel, food and safety

The handbook quotes refundable housing deposits of CNY 2,000 for self-funded / CNY 1,000 for scholarship students, subject to deductions and receipt. Residence is for enrolled students, not accompanying family. The joint UIBE–BUCT programme permits residence on either campus. Its BUCT Chaoyang quote is a double room at CNY 10,800 per semester / CNY 21,600 per year, without an established per-bed basis. Its linked UIBE accommodation page currently returns the main university page, so no current UIBE tariff or room guarantee is asserted. Confirm occupancy, utilities, room availability and phase costs. IEMBA housing is conditional on award; MIF/IMPA have a home-country thesis phase.

The programme guides do not establish an individual meal contract, dietary certification, allergy service or universal kitchen access. Contact the official international student office about dining, food needs and cooking rules at the assigned residence. The dual degree may involve either campus, so check each location separately and budget meals apart from tuition and quoted accommodation.

Use official university payment instructions and keep control of your own valid email and application records. Scholarship medical forms require complete examinations and signatures, with six-month validity; documentary checks also apply. The exact offer governs registration and immigration steps. Insurance is compulsory for registration under the student handbook. No admission, scholarship, visa or personal safety guarantee is asserted.

General admissions contacts are degreeinenglish@163.com and sie@uibe.edu.cn, +86 10 64492327 / 64492329. Scholarship guides use uibescholarship@163.com and name Mrs Sun Yawen and Mrs Jiang Dian. Monitor official email for academic reviews and formal results. Pre-admission or recommendation is not final admission or a scholarship award.

## Frequently asked questions

### Which English degree routes are documented?

The current general catalogue lists nine undergraduate programmes and 16 master’s tracks. Four additional source-named academic routes are separately documented: one-year IEMBA, one-year MIEC, two-year MIF 1+1 and two-year IMPA Global Development and Governance 1+1. The last four have restricted admission; scholarship-only funding variants of the same general degree are not duplicated.

### Is an upcoming intake confirmed?

General UG application windows recur 20 October–31 December for spring and 20 March–30 June for autumn. General master applications recur 30 March–30 June for autumn; some subjects mention spring admission. The joint-degree page’s 30 June 2026 deadline is historical. Confirm the exact academic route, scholarship deadline and start date before applying; no particular next intake is guaranteed.

### What English evidence is required?

The general English guides list IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 86 or Duolingo 120 and certain reviewed alternatives. Official evidence of wholly English previous schooling may be accepted at the appropriate stage. The joint UIBE–BUCT programme specifically lists IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 85 or equivalent. Restricted programmes have their own language rules; do not substitute a generic waiver.

### Does undergraduate admission require CSCA?

The general UG guide specifies Mathematics. The joint Economic Development/Polymer Materials programme specifically requires Mathematics and Chemistry and a comprehensive interview. Use the programme-specific requirements rather than assuming the general Mathematics-only rule covers the engineering dual degree.

### What are the joint degree awards and campus phases?

The four-year, entirely English joint programme awards a UIBE Bachelor of Economics in International Economic Development Cooperation and a BUCT Bachelor of Engineering in Polymer Materials and Engineering after the required credits and thesis/design. Maximum study is six years. Students may reside on either campus and take cross-institution courses; a first-two-years/last-two-years campus allocation is not independently proved.

### Are all English master’s degrees MSc, MA or LLM?

No. Exact linked awards include Master of Economics, Master of Management, Master of International Business and MBA. International Relations and International Development are described with Master of Law classification; this is not relabelled LLM. Public Management covers the verified management subjects without inferring a professional MPA. Exact local award wording is retained per offering.

### How should I compare the tuition quotes?

General English UG tuition is CNY 49,750 per academic year. Most general master’s totals are CNY 99,160 for the entire two-year course, while individual programmes differ: International Law 123,280; IMPA/MCA 85,000; IMBA 128,640; Actuarial Finance 109,880; Industrial Economics/Cross-border E-Commerce 115,000; Quantitative Economics tracks 99,800. Whole-course quotes are not annualised. The exact programme payment schedule remains in its fee note.

### Which payments are non-refundable?

The general catalogue lists application CNY 660 non-refundable and advance payment CNY 10,000 non-refundable after confirmed enrolment, credited toward tuition after registration. The joint programme has separate university payment instructions. Verify every payment against the exact admitted route and recipient account; the handbook separately gives time-based approved-withdrawal tuition refunds. Obtain the exact written calculation; do not equate tuition-refund rules with a refundable advance payment.

### How do MIF and IMPA 1+1 differ from one-year funding?

MIF’s English guide/Chinese body gives 35 credits but the Chinese table total says 30; confirm its exact credit count. IMPA Global Development and Governance specifies 42 credits. Both are two-year academic routes: taught first year at UIBE, thesis research in the home country in year two, then return for spring defence. Their guides describe a one-year full-scholarship/on-campus phase. That funding period is not the degree duration; unrestricted self-funded admission to these exact routes is not established.

### Who can apply for MIEC and IEMBA?

MIEC is a one-year Master of Economics route for eligible senior professionals from developing countries with full diplomatic relations with China. IEMBA is a one-year MBA route requiring government recommendation/embassy routing and senior official/manager background, with specific health and family restrictions. Both require substantial work experience. Same-source age/work boundary discrepancies require written clarification; these are not ordinary unrestricted master’s intakes.

### Are Silk Road and other CSC schemes unrestricted?

No. Silk Road MCA, MWLE and MIBCE have their own BRI-related target populations and funding rules. Chinese guides state age up to 35 while English says under 45; that material conflict is unresolved. The high-level CSC catalogue separately imposes three years of work experience for its Business Administration option. A single CSC application rule and no concurrent government/university scholarship support, except one-time awards, apply as stated; funding requires final selection.

### What housing and Chinese graduation requirements apply?

The handbook requires English UG HSK4 180+ and English masters HSK3 180+ for graduation, separately from entry English. Insurance is compulsory for registration. Housing deposits are CNY 2,000 self-funded / 1,000 scholarship, refundable against receipt subject to deductions. The joint page quotes a BUCT Chaoyang double room at CNY 10,800/semester or 21,600/year, without per-bed basis. Its UIBE housing link now returns the university home page; current tariffs, room allocation, utilities and phase costs require confirmation.

### Which office handles admission and programme enquiries?

The official general guides list degreeinenglish@163.com and sie@uibe.edu.cn, Admissions Office, School of International Education, Room 101, Building B, International Plaza, 10 Huixin Dongjie, Chaoyang, Beijing. Phones: +86 10 64492327 / 64492329. Restricted scholarship guides use uibescholarship@163.com and name Mrs Sun Yawen and Mrs Jiang Dian. No partnership-signing authority or existing agency authorisation is inferred.
