## Admissions

Choose the exact English degree and admission or funding route, prepare the relevant academic and personal documents, and apply through the university’s official international portal. Scholarship entry rules and supporting documents differ; confirm the current cycle and programme conditions before submission.

## Why students choose it

- Compare a comprehensive public university in Shandong’s capital city.
- Choose a named English degree with a published normal duration.
- Review self-funded costs separately from the conditions of available scholarship schemes.

## Things to consider

- The standing tariff took effect in 2023; confirm the schedule that applies to the next admission cycle.
- Funding schemes have different language, age and document rules.
- Programme teaching and residence allocation require confirmation.

## Best fit for

- Students comparing English data management, economics or civil engineering bachelor study.
- Graduates considering computing or foreign linguistics and applied linguistics.
- Applicants prepared to confirm the exact admission/funding route before submitting documents.

## Campus and city

The university reports four campuses and an international education and exchange school. International registration takes place at West Campus, but the registration address does not determine each programme’s teaching or research location. New arrivals are assigned accommodation by the university and must use their designated rooms under the published registration rules.

Jinan is the capital of Shandong Province. The university’s West Campus registration point is on Nanxinzhuang West Road, while its international handbook also describes East Campus transport connections. Plan daily travel around the confirmed teaching and residence assignment. The historical Baotu Spring image shown here depicts a Jinan city landmark, rather than a university building or campus facility.

The university’s comprehensive academic structure spans engineering, science, economics, languages and other subjects. For graduate applications, the linked general checklist requests a study plan and academic recommendations; named scholarships may also require a supervisor acceptance letter. Applicants should discuss the exact research topic, supervision and facilities with the relevant academic unit. Institutional subject breadth does not establish a guaranteed laboratory allocation, internship, company placement or employment outcome.

## Hostel, food and safety

The standing accommodation schedule lists CNY 15,000 for a single room, CNY 9,000 for a double and CNY 4,500 for a four-person room, per person per year. The current registration notice says accommodation is arranged uniformly and students must live in designated rooms; private off-campus renting is prohibited under that notice. Only a mattress is supplied on the bed, with other bedding prepared by students. Confirm actual room availability, assignment and current terms before payment.

The international handbook and registration notices support planning around the assigned residence. Confirm the available dining facilities, specific dietary needs and permitted food preparation directly for that location. The published tuition and room tariffs do not establish a compulsory meal plan or a fixed food budget; set aside funds for daily expenses separately.

The registration notice requires international students to purchase the stipulated insurance and warns that failure to meet the requirement can prevent registration. It also describes arrival check-in and original-document review. Confirm current health-report, insurance and arrival requirements through the university before travel, with any extra scholarship documents prepared for the chosen scheme.

The international education and exchange school publishes distinct admissions, student administration, academic affairs and residence-service sections. Admissions handles scholarship programmes, enquiries and application materials; other sections manage insurance, accommodation and registration matters. Students Traffic can help compare public information and prepare questions for the official university process.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is this the university in Shandong?

Yes. University of Jinan is 济南大学 in Jinan, Shandong, founded in 1948. It is a different institution from Jinan University, 暨南大学, in Guangzhou. Check the university name, province and official application route before sending any documents.

### Which English degrees are listed?

The bachelor choices are Big Data Management and Application, Economics and Civil Engineering. The English master table lists Computer Science and Technology, and Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics. Other subjects shown under the doctoral column are not treated as master programmes.

### How long do the degrees take?

The normal duration is four years for the listed English bachelors and three years for the listed English masters. The programme pages establish qualification level but do not prove a BSc, BEng, MA or MSc award abbreviation for these exact international routes. Confirm the formal award wording with the university.

### Which undergraduate examinations apply?

The current bachelor table specifies CSCA Mathematics for Big Data Management and Application, and Economics. Civil Engineering requires Mathematics and Physics. Confirm the exact examination-paper language and result-submission timing; an English teaching label does not itself establish the paper language.

### What English score is required?

The published schemes differ. Undergraduate scholarship: IELTS 6, TOEFL 70, Duolingo 100 or EF SET 60, alongside its stated native/official-language or previous English-study alternatives. President graduate scholarship: IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 90, or its accepted equivalent/English-background routes. These are scheme conditions; confirm the current self-funded requirement separately.

### What age rules apply?

The undergraduate scholarship states under 25 and the President master scholarship under 30. The Chinese Government Scholarship master route states under 35 with its own academic and language conditions. These separate scheme limits do not establish one universal age limit for every self-funded applicant. Confirm the exact route and current cutoff.

### What documents are in the general checklist?

The linked general checklist asks for application and basic information forms, passport, qualification or study evidence and transcript. Self-paid applicants submit a guarantor statement. It includes additional employment/non-criminal evidence when graduation was more than two years ago and extra previous-school and visa records for applicants already studying in China. Confirm the current version before applying.

### What extra documents do masters prepare?

The general graduate checklist adds a study plan and two recommendations from associate professors or higher. The President scholarship separately lists notarised degree records, language evidence, health and police records and a UJN supervisor acceptance letter. Follow the selected scheme’s current rules rather than treating every scholarship document as universal self-funded policy.

### What are the published fees?

The standing schedule posted in October 2025, effective from January 2023, lists English tuition of CNY 20,000 per year for these bachelor subjects and CNY 24,000 for these master subjects. The self-funded application charge is CNY 400. Scholarship and cooperation-route charges follow their own documents. Confirm the current applicable schedule and payment instructions.

### What housing charges and rules apply?

Standing charges per person per year are CNY 15,000 single, CNY 9,000 double and CNY 4,500 four-person. The registration notice says the university assigns designated accommodation and prohibits private off-campus renting. Only a mattress is provided on the bed, so students prepare other bedding. Confirm the actual room, availability and current residence terms.

### What scholarships are described?

The undergraduate scholarship page describes 50% tuition and accommodation support, subject to its eligibility and annual review. The President graduate scholarship lists tuition, accommodation and insurance; its CNY 2,000 monthly living allowance is expressly for doctoral students. The separate CSC route has its own subject list and conditions. No scholarship award or deduction is automatic.

### When can I apply?

The undergraduate and President scholarship pages give June 10 without a year; the CSC page gives March 15 without a year. These do not establish a future dated call or a general self-funded deadline. Confirm the next programme cycle, funding window and start date directly, then follow the admission notice for registration.

### Where do I register and who provides support?

The current notice directs registration to the international education and exchange school at West Campus. The school has dedicated admissions, student administration, academic and residence-service sections. The registration location does not allocate every degree’s classes or laboratory. Confirm the teaching campus, assigned room, insurance and arrival documents before travelling.
