## Admissions

Choose the exact degree and language route, then prepare the current YSU checklist and apply through the official platform. Schools review academic preparation, followed by qualification checks. Scholarship eligibility and admission remain separate decisions.

## Why students choose it

- An English electronics bachelor route and master study across engineering, management, languages and design.
- Published degree-room charges and detailed international residence facilities.
- Clear separation of entry language evidence and graduation Chinese requirements.

## Things to consider

- English undergraduate study still requires CSCA Mathematics and Physics in English.
- English-route graduation requires HSK 4 for bachelor study and HSK 3 for master study.
- Room type is assigned by the university; a preferred double or triple room is not guaranteed.

## Best fit for

- Applicants prepared for the exact English route and its Chinese graduation requirement.
- Bachelor’s graduates comparing engineering, business, language or design master programmes.
- Students who can plan around university-assigned housing and confirmed registration instructions.

## Campus and city

The university combines academic facilities with international student residences and cultural activities. Chinese learning rooms and fitness spaces are available free of charge, and students can join university associations, sports events, international culture festivals and language activities. Confirm the exact teaching building and residence assignment for the chosen school.

Yanshan University is in Qinhuangdao, Hebei, near the Bohai Sea. The international office address is 438 Hebei Street. Shops, banks and postal services are available around the international student accommodation area. Plan arrival transport and the campus commute after receiving the university’s registration and residence instructions; no unverified travel time or monthly city budget is assumed.

The university’s research environment includes national laboratories for metastable materials and key technologies for hoisting machinery, alongside a national engineering research centre for cold-rolling strip equipment and processes. Master students choose their named discipline and research preparation through the relevant school. A supervisor acceptance letter and research plan form part of the current master application checklist. Access to a research environment does not establish a paid internship or guaranteed employment.

## Hostel, food and safety

International student dormitories provide private bathrooms, round-the-clock hot water, air-conditioning, household appliances and Wi-Fi. Shared kitchens and laundries are available on each floor. Degree housing is CNY 10,600 per year per bed in double rooms or CNY 7,066 in triple rooms. The university assigns room type after arrival, and accommodation is paid by semester or academic year in advance. Language-course ten-month rates do not apply to these degree-room charges.

The campus has six canteens, including a halal dining hall. Shared residence kitchens provide another practical option, subject to the university’s use rules. Confirm specific dietary needs and cooking arrangements for the assigned residence before arrival; no fixed food budget is established.

The current checklist requires a recent health certificate and valid police evidence. International students pay the applicable insurance before enrolment; the twelve-month plans are CNY 1,000 or CNY 1,200 per person. Keep identity, health and funding records consistent with the university’s verification instructions.

The School of International Education supports international admissions and student administration. Its published office functions include international project liaison and development, academic coordination and student services. Students Traffic can help compare public programme information and prepare questions about eligibility, fees and arrival arrangements; applicants use the official university process.

## Frequently asked questions

### Which bachelor subject is available in English?

Electronic Science and Technology is a four-year English route in the School of Information Science and Engineering. Its annual tuition is CNY 15,700, and the application charge is CNY 600. The exact entry test requires CSCA Mathematics and Physics in English, matching the teaching language.

### What English master subjects can I consider?

English master routes include mechanical and materials fields, control, electrical and instrument disciplines, electronics, communication, computing, professional Business Administration, languages, civil engineering, Design Science, vehicle engineering and power/thermal engineering. They have three-year nominal study. Design research directions remain within the Design Science programme.

### Is Business Administration an MBA?

Yes. Business Administration is an English professional MBA route with three-year nominal study. Applicants must meet the international degree conditions and programme assessment. Confirm any experience requirements directly before applying; no unverified minimum number of working years is assumed.

### What English certificates are accepted?

For applicants from non-native/non-official English-language countries, accepted evidence includes IELTS at least 6.0 with each component at least 5.5, TOEFL at least 85 with each component at least 20, GRE at least 300, Duolingo at least 95, or highest-qualification English-medium evidence. Use the applicable route and confirm any document assessment with YSU.

### Do I need HSK before an English degree?

The general English-route entry rule uses the applicable English evidence. Separately, graduation requires HSK 4 for English bachelor study and HSK 3 for English master study. These completion obligations are not presented as English-route entry conditions. Chinese-taught degree requirements differ.

### Which CSCA papers apply?

The English Electronic Science and Technology bachelor row requires Mathematics and Physics, with examination language matching English teaching. These undergraduate test requirements do not apply to the master checklists. No unverified minimum score or additional Chinese paper is added.

### What age and qualifications are required?

The 2027 guide gives bachelor age 18–25 and master age 18–35, with a minimum-age birth cutoff before 1 September 2009. Bachelor applicants need high-school graduation or equivalent; master applicants need bachelor graduation or equivalent and good academic results.

### What academic documents do I need?

Bachelor applicants prepare high-school records, language evidence, exact CSCA results, a CV and two high-school subject-teacher recommendations. Master applicants prepare bachelor records, English evidence, a CV, two associate-professor-or-higher recommendations, a supervisor acceptance letter and research plan. Final graduation is required before enrolment.

### What identity and financial evidence is required?

Passport expiry must be after 1 March 2028, and the passport must not change between application and visa entry. The current checklist requires financial evidence above USD 5,000, a white-background identification photo, a health certificate within six months and police evidence with its applicable validity. Submit high-resolution scans of originals, not document photographs.

### What are the current deadlines?

Self-funded degree applications for the 2027 autumn cycle close on 15 June. The President Scholarship date is 30 May, subject to its eligibility and award process; government and other scholarship dates follow their administering authority. Exact degree registration month is not established by an autumn label, so it is not inferred.

### How much will tuition, insurance and housing cost?

Annual tuition is CNY 15,700 for the English bachelor route and CNY 24,800 for English masters. Application charges are CNY 600 and CNY 800 respectively. Twelve-month insurance plans cost CNY 1,000 or CNY 1,200. Degree rooms cost CNY 10,600/year/bed for double rooms or CNY 7,066 for triple rooms, assigned by the university. Scholarship coverage is assessed separately.

### How does the President Scholarship work?

It targets enrolled self-funded degree students; CSC/ICLT recipients are excluded. Selected bachelors get tuition waivers; selected masters get tuition and university-room waivers plus CNY 1,000/month for twelve months, subject to annual review. Core criteria are alternatives: any one can qualify for consideration, with multiple preferred. IELTS 6.5 with components 5.5, TOEFL 85 with components 20 or Duolingo 105 is one alternative; relevant grades, thesis, research or achievements are others. Confirm incoming-applicant eligibility before budgeting an award.

### What residence and daily-living facilities are available?

International residences have private bathrooms, hot water, air-conditioning, appliances and Wi-Fi, with shared kitchens and laundries on each floor. Campus canteens include a halal option, and Chinese learning rooms and fitness spaces are free to use. Confirm your assigned building, room type, residence rules and arrival date before travel; no exact East/West teaching allocation is inferred from the office address or cover image.
