Research runs through more than thirty centres, including the Centre for Nanoscience & Nanotechnology, the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Basic Sciences, the Multidisciplinary Centre for Advanced Research and Studies and the Centre for Theoretical Physics. JMI's prospectus reports 67 research projects with grants of over INR 33 crore, 41 patents filed in 2024-25 and a cumulative Scopus h-index of 212. Skills-based B.Voc. degrees in medical laboratory sciences, molecular diagnostics and medical electrophysiology are run by DDU Kaushal Kendra, and the M.Tech programmes give admission preference to GATE-qualified Indian applicants while foreign nationals use the supernumerary route.
