The dining hall serves vegetarian meals only, and breakfast, lunch, evening snacks and dinner are included in the fees. Menus cover South Indian, North Indian, Maharashtrian, Chinese, Thai and Continental dishes, with live counters. Pay-and-eat cafes include Times Cafe, open until 02:00 with delivery, the Library Cafe and Juice Press.
Two residential doctors provide round-the-clock care. Of the three doctors, two are women, and students can choose to see a female doctor. A 24-hour ambulance transfers serious cases to Chellaram hospital. Students must be on campus by midnight and in their hostel by 02:00. FLAME has zero tolerance for drug abuse and can require urine, blood or breath tests. Four student counsellors, all clinical psychologists, work from 09:00 to 20:00 on working days. Every first-year undergraduate has a faculty mentor and a peer mentor, and from the second year a faculty advisor guides course choice, major and minor declaration and the degree audit. The Office of International Relations assigns student and faculty mentors to incoming exchange students.
