Fees are paid at admission and then annually, and rooms are allotted subject to availability. Hostel entry and exit are logged by biometric readers, entrances are under CCTV, and hostel gates close at 9 p.m.
Mess and canteen dining is provided inside the hostel complexes, and students pay the mess directly before hostel admission at the rate SRIHER notifies each year; this is not included in the hostel fee. Meals are served only in the mess, with no room service, and night cafeterias in the hostels sell snacks, coffee and tea between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m. Carbonated beverages and junk food are banned on university premises under a Government of India higher-education directive.
SRIHER applies the UGC, medical, dental and AICTE anti-ragging regulations and the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Ragging Act 1997, and reported no ragging incidents in the current year. Health insurance is mandatory for foreign students at USD 50 a year, and the campus hospital runs a 24-hour emergency service with an ambulance, treating students at concessional charges. The International Relations Office handles foreign-national and NRI admissions, pre-arrival guidance, FRRO registration, Bonafide Certificates and APAAR IDs for students without Aadhaar.
