Practical training & industry exposure
Practical training is course-specific across Bangor's schools. Ocean Sciences and Marine Biology students use the roughly £3.5m ocean-going research vessel Prince Madog, three smaller inshore vessels, tropical and temperate marine aquaria and analytical laboratories for fieldwork-based teaching. Albert Gubay Business School postgraduate programmes carry a dual CMI Level 7 Diploma/Certificate/Award alongside the taught degree, and the Banking (Chartered Banker) MSc adds the Chartered Banker Institute's own professional designation; Bangor is one of only eight UK universities holding Chartered Banker Institute 'Centre of Excellence' status. Forestry students train at the university's own woodlands and the 252-hectare Henfaes Research Station, with degrees accredited by the Institute of Chartered Foresters toward Chartered Forester status. Environmental Science degrees are accredited by the Institution of Environmental Science (IES), with fieldwork across the North Wales coastline and Eryri National Park. Psychology students access BPS-accredited teaching plus MRI and EEG brain-imaging facilities. Law students on the Qualifying Law Degree (QLD)-accredited LLB take part in mooting and legal-skills training. Primary Education (QTS) students train through the CaBan partnership between local schools, Bangor University, the GwE regional consortium and the CIEREI research institute.
