Training & support
Practical training & industry exposure
Engineering students use the £11m Hertha Ayrton STEM Centre and Institute of Technology facilities with wind tunnels, a flight simulator, CFD/FEA analysis software and a robotics laboratory, with named placement and graduate employers including Rolls-Royce, Airbus, Boeing, Bentley Motors, McLaren Racing, BMW Manufacturing and the Ministry of Defence. The National Centre of Excellence for Food Engineering (NCEFE) partners with Siemens, Nestle, Quorn and Arla Foods on applied food-manufacturing research, though it is a research and apprenticeship centre rather than a currently recruiting standalone international BEng route. Sheffield Business School holds full AACSB accreditation (verified independently on aacsb.edu, not just the university's own marketing pages), placing it, per the university, in the top 6% of business schools worldwide, plus ILM-accredited MBA routes. Nursing (Adult and Mental Health) degrees are NMC-approved with mandatory supervised clinical placements carrying an additional annual placement-cost supplement built into the international fee. Computing degrees carry BCS (Chartered Institute for IT) accreditation and the MSc Cyber Security is designed around NCSC-aligned CyBok content. Note: the well-known Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) and its Boeing/Rolls-Royce partnership belong to the neighbouring University of Sheffield, a separate institution, not to Sheffield Hallam -- prospective applicants should not conflate the two universities' engineering research centres.
