Clinical exposure

The General Practice Nursing curriculum is structured around a progressive internship sequence that begins with a Professional Internship of General Nursing in the first year and continues through Therapeutic, Surgical, Geriatric, Emergency and Intensive Care, Mental Health, Maternity Care, Children's, and Community Nursing internships in later semesters, closing with a Final Professional Internship before the final thesis and examination. Per the national Study in Lithuania programme listing, these placements take place across first-level practice centres, second-level hospitals, and third-level (tertiary) hospital departments, giving students exposure to a genuine range of care complexity rather than a single facility type. Classroom subjects — Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology and Infection Control, and applied nursing research — are sequenced to build toward each internship block. Because clinical placement sites can vary by cohort and by which partner healthcare institutions are active in a given academic year, students should confirm current placement hospitals directly with the Faculty of Medicine before applying, rather than assuming a fixed list of teaching hospitals.
