Data Science and Business Analytics students begin hands-on project work in their second year, when each student carries out a supervised programming project under a mentor from a partner IT company; in years three and four, students choose between research activity or team projects run by the Faculty of Computer Science's industry partners, with most projects tied to the financial sector. The Faculty partners with major banks (Sberbank, Alfa-Bank, T-Bank/Tinkoff), consulting firms (PwC, McKinsey & Company), financial-markets companies (Moscow Stock Exchange, WorldQuant) and technology employers (Yandex, SAS, MTS), some of whose staff mentor student projects or teach within the Business Analytics and Applied Statistics course and research seminar. The programme's academic staff also helped build HSE's Applied Mathematics and Information Science degree, and graduates are positioned for HSE's Master's programmes in Applied Mathematics, Information Science and Economics, including a Finance Technologies and Data Analysis Master's run with Sberbank.
