Clinical exposure
Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Medical College and Hospital (DSMCH) trains students in its own teaching hospital at Siruvachur, which handles casualty and emergency cases round the clock. NMC's 2026-27 register shows 250 MBBS seats, 107 MD/MS seats across 21 specialities and 9 super-speciality seats (D.M. Cardiology and Neurology, M.Ch. Surgical Gastroenterology and Urology). MBBS ends with a one-year compulsory rotating medical internship. The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University sets the syllabus and conducts the university examinations. By Department of Higher Education notification 9-13/2026-U.3(A) of 24 August 2026, the college is one of three Siruvachur institutions that together form Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Institute of Science and Research (DSISR), an institution deemed to be university. The notice keeps all NMC rules on admission and intake in force; the 2026-27 cohort was admitted under the M.G.R. Medical University, and admissions from 2027-28 are expected to move to DSISR once NMC records the change.
