Engineering undergraduates use specialist labs across Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Chemical Engineering, including Chemical Engineering's own pilot plant, and can work toward Chartered Engineer status via degrees accredited by the Institution of Civil Engineers, Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Institution of Engineering and Technology and Institution of Chemical Engineers. On the Newcastle Helix site, students and researchers work alongside the National Innovation Centre for Data, the National Innovation Centre for Ageing and the Centre for Process Innovation, plus corporate partners including Siemens, Microsoft and Northumbrian Water. Newcastle University Business School's triple accreditation (AACSB, EQUIS, AMBA) underpins live-client consultancy work in the MBA's applied final phase, while Computer Science students in the GBP 58 million Urban Sciences Building take BCS-recognised coursework linked to active data-science and AI research groups. Law students can take part in pro bono legal clinics and work placements alongside the taught LLB curriculum.
