The academic first-year route uses the HSC qualification and Tamil Nadu engineering-admissions conditions.

• Pass HSC academic (+1 and +2), or an accepted equivalent, with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
• For the TNEA academic route, the minimum combined average in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry is 45% for the general category and 40% for the listed reserved categories.
• TNEA nativity, schooling and category conditions apply; a qualifying mark does not guarantee allotment.
• Tamil Nadu-native OCI/PIO applicants use Open Category; the exception excludes those born abroad after 4 March 2021.
• Sri Lankan Tamil refugees who studied in Tamil Nadu may be considered under open competition under the documented certificate route.
• Open to: Indian applicants satisfying the applicable TNEA 2026 first-year route
• Open to: Tamil Nadu-native OCI/PIO cardholders eligible for TNEA Open Category, subject to its foreign-birth cutoff
• Open to: Sri Lankan Tamil refugees who studied in Tamil Nadu and satisfy the documented TNEA certificate route
• Only the documented 2026 first-year TNEA route is represented; this is not unrestricted foreign/NRI, management-quota or lateral-entry admission.
• The OCI/PIO exception does not apply to candidates born in a foreign country after 4 March 2021. Tamil Nadu native status and the academic conditions must also be met.
• Sri Lankan Tamil refugees must have studied in Tamil Nadu and provide the specified identification/camp-registration alternatives.
• AICTE supernumerary NRI/FN/OCI/Gulf approval is No for 2026–27; that quota finding is distinct from the limited ordinary TNEA eligibility exceptions.
