Training & support
Practical training & industry exposure
Engineering undergraduates use the Boldrewood Innovation Campus's wind tunnels, turbojet and rocket engines, and a Jetstream aircraft-based flight-test course for Aeronautics and Astronautics students at the end of second-year. Civil Engineering is accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators (comprising the Institution of Civil Engineers, Institution of Structural Engineers and other bodies) toward Chartered Engineer registration; Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics and Astronautics are both accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, with Aeronautics and Astronautics also accredited by the Royal Aeronautical Society; Electrical and Electronic Engineering is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology; and Computer Science is accredited by both the British Computer Society and the IET. Southampton Business School's Full-time MBA holds Association of MBAs (AMBA) accreditation and sits within an AACSB-accredited school, and MBA students complete a European study trip plus a 'live' international consultancy project as part of the programme. Medicine (BM5) students train within the Faculty of Medicine's GMC-accredited five-year programme, integrating clinical placements from the early years across Southampton's teaching hospitals. Law students can access the University's Law Clinic and mooting opportunities, with the Law School's postgraduate route feeding directly into research-informed practice modules.
