Clinical & support
Clinical exposure
The six-year General Medicine curriculum runs theoretical foundation subjects (anatomy, biology, biochemistry, biophysics, histology, physiology) in Years 1-2, preclinical subjects (pathology, microbiology, pharmacology) from semester 5, and clinical subjects (internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, neurology) from subsequent semesters, with Year 6 devoted entirely to bedside clinical training. Students complete compulsory Czech-language classes during the first three years to support ward communication, though all coursework and exams remain in English. Clinical training runs at University Hospital Olomouc (FNOL), a roughly 1,200-bed hospital with 67 medical workplaces. Graduates sit final state examinations in Paediatrics, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Gynaecology and Obstetrics, and Epidemiology/Law/Social Medicine before receiving the MUDr degree.
