Engineering degrees carry named professional accreditation: Civil Engineering BEng/MEng is accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators on behalf of the Institution of Civil Engineers, Institution of Structural Engineers and other bodies; Mechanical Engineering BEng/MEng by the IET and Institution of Mechanical Engineers with EUR-ACE label; Electronic Engineering BEng/MEng by the IET with EUR-ACE label. Computer Science and Cyber Security and Forensic Computing are both accredited by BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, and the university is ranked 5th among modern universities for computer science and informatics research quality (REF 2021); the Cyber Security course offers optional internships through a partnership with Hampshire Police's High Tech Crime Unit. The Centre for Cybercrime and Economic Crime brings together more than 40 academics, described by the university as the largest such grouping in the UK.
