Is Annamalai University public or private?

It is a public state university at Annamalainagar, Chidambaram, established in 1929. UGC lists the institution as a State University; recognition of a university is distinct from any programme-specific professional accreditation.

Which agriculture admission route applies?

The eligibility conditions below apply to Indian applicants with a four-year B.Sc. (Ag.) or B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture degree using regular TNAU admissions. Other prior degrees and foreign-national admission require separate assessment. The four-year qualifying degree, institution category, academic marks and entrance selection all need to be met.

Are these courses taught in English?

The Faculty of Agriculture’s 2019-20 policy specifies English instruction. Regular teaching and thesis research are combined in its master’s programmes.

How long does an agriculture master’s take?

The regular M.Sc. Agriculture programme takes two academic years across four semesters. Common regulations specify 70 credits, with 40 credits of coursework and seminar and 30 of thesis research.

Can I enter directly after school?

These agriculture master’s programmes require a qualifying four-year bachelor’s degree after 10+2. The specified route is B.Sc. (Ag.) or B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture; this is not the separate undergraduate agriculture admission route.

How are students selected?

TNAU conducts the regular postgraduate admissions process and common entrance examination. Final admission remains conditional on academic eligibility, original records, selection and the relevant allotment.

Use admissionsatpgschool.tnau.ac.in for the notified TNAU postgraduate cycle and select the Annamalai University programme. The 2026 master’s application is closed; future applicants need the new cycle’s notice and dates.

What is the next intake?

Annamalai scheduled first-year M.Sc. Agriculture classes for 22 October 2026 at 10 am. That historical date does not announce a future intake; the next application and class-start schedule must be newly notified.

What should I budget?

Obtain a current full fee quotation for the chosen aided or self-supporting category. Include tuition, compulsory charges, campus logistics, meal arrangements, deposits and examination costs; a historic combined annual charge is not a current tuition figure.

Is campus logistics accommodation available?

Agriculture students have university campus logistics options, including Thamarai Illam for women and Sekizhar Block for men. The 2025-26 brochure gives room-and-meal arrangements charges plus caution deposit; request current charges and allocation before accepting a room.

Can final-year bachelor’s students apply?

The 2026 TNAU notice allowed final-year and final-semester applicants to apply with available completed-semester records. They still had to meet final admission requirements and submit the required qualifying certificate at admission.

How do aided and self-supporting options differ?

The current admission notification advertises both categories for the same agriculture specialisations. Their charges differ, so compare the admission category and complete budget before choosing; neither category guarantees admission or employment.
