Hohai University: FAQ

The current English catalogue explicitly marks five teaching schools in Changzhou: Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Information Science and Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Automation, Renewable Energy, and Materials Science and Engineering. Other rows do not assign a campus. Confirm teaching and housing in the offer.

The standing 2026/2027 guide requires non-Chinese citizenship, good health, a bachelor’s degree and age under 35 for master’s applicants. It also requires a research plan and two professor/associate professor recommendations. Confirm the actual next cohort’s conditions with the university.

Non-native English speakers provide relevant English qualification evidence such as IELTS or TOEFL. The general guide gives no numeric test minimum. It also states that English-taught graduate students must reach level 3 of the specified Chinese proficiency scales for graduation; English teaching does not remove that requirement.

The 2027 English programme table does not specify a next deadline or start month. The published general application period for the 2026/2027 cohort ended on 10 April 2026. Ask admissions for the next open round and its official checklist.

The 2026/2027 prospectus quotes CNY 32,000 per year for English master’s study, CNY 400 non-refundable application and compulsory insurance CNY 800 per year. These dated prices are not a final next-cohort quote. Tuition and accommodation are paid in RMB.

The standing brochure quotes Xikang Road single rooms at CNY 9,600–24,000 per year depending on conditions, Jiangning single rooms at CNY 12,000 per year, and Changzhou double rooms at CNY 7,200 per year per bed. The university allocates the residence campus; confirm current availability and charges.

The standing brochure permits a 70% tuition refund for withdrawal within two weeks of registration, with accommodation calculated accordingly. A hard-copy application and returned invoice are required. It gives no refund after two weeks or for expulsion for rule violations. Confirm the applicable cohort’s exact terms before paying.

No. The standing brochure separates scholarship routes. Chinese Government Type A goes through the local Chinese embassy/consulate; Hohai does not accept it directly. Type B requires both CSC and Hohai systems, agency 10294. Jiangsu’s scheme requires provincial-department recommendation for applicants from Belt and Road countries or friendly provinces/states/regions; the university does not accept direct applications. Hohai first class covers tuition, on-campus housing, insurance and a monthly stipend; second class tuition and housing; third class tuition. Annual review applies. Confirm current scheme rules; no award or stipend amount is guaranteed.

Use Hohai’s official application system, keep control of your account and monitor the registered email. Follow the selected scheme’s separate instructions. The International School publishes a non-authorisation statement covering external admissions-related activities; obtain official information and submit through the university’s process.

The official contact list names Ms LI Junyu (Micky) and Ms LI Wanting (Lillian) for admissions, with shared admission@hhu.edu.cn and +86 25 8378 7955. The International School address is 1 Xikang Road, Nanjing, Jiangsu 210098. Student-service and complaints contacts have different roles.
