KSMU provides dedicated international student hostels on or near campus with 2–3 occupancy rooms and shared kitchen facilities. The listed hostel fee ($2,400/year) typically covers accommodation and meals. Kazan has one of the most reliable Indian mess facilities among Russian regional medical universities, alongside Volgograd and Orenburg. The 800–1,000 strong Indian student community has built a functional Indian food ecosystem — Indian groceries are available in local shops, several Indian-run mess services operate near campus, and student cooking in hostel kitchens is common.
The city is generally easier for international students to navigate than remote locations, but winter preparation, documentation discipline, and local-language basics still matter. Best suited to students who want a well-established Indian community, proven FMGE outcomes, and a major city environment — and who are willing to pay slightly more than the cheapest Russian options to get these.

If you are planning MBBS admission in Russia, the real decision is not whether admission is possible. It is whether you are choosing the right university, preparing the right documents, and entering on a pathway that still makes sense for India-return goals later.
If you are comparing Russia seriously, the duration question is really about structure, internship, and planning. The useful answer is not a brochure number. It is understanding how the six-year pathway works and what that means for your long-term medical journey.
If your first question is cost, Russia belongs on the shortlist. But the smartest budget decision is not the cheapest seat on paper. It is the cheapest Russia option that still makes sense for the student's full six-year journey.
