Is the BSc Human Biology (Medicine) to MB ChB programme direct-entry after high school?

Yes. It is a single continuous six-year admission -- a three-year Human Biology foundation stage followed directly by a three-year clinical stage -- with no separate bachelor's degree required first. This is different from KNUST's separate Graduate Entry Medical Programme (GEMP), which does require a prior bachelor's degree.

What qualification is awarded on graduation?

Graduates receive the MB ChB (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) degree.

What entrance exam does the university require?

A 100-question multiple-choice exam covering Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, and verbal/quantitative reasoning, followed by a formal-dress in-person interview at the School of Medical Sciences in Kumasi.

What are the entry-grade requirements?

WASSCE applicants need an aggregate of 8 or better across English, Integrated Science, Core Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics or Elective Mathematics. A-Level applicants need an aggregate of 08 or better in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and General Paper.

What is the current tuition fee?

For 2025/26, international first-year (fresher) students pay a total of USD 7,563, and continuing-year students pay USD 7,097 per year (USD 5,950 tuition plus USD 988.41 in other charges and USD 158.76 in medicine-specific additional charges), per KNUST's official international fee schedule.

Are there additional fees besides tuition?

Yes -- a USD 100 application/e-voucher fee and a GH cedi 400 entrance-exam fee for the 2025/26 cycle (this fee is revised each cycle).

When does the academic year start and when can I apply?

The most recent confirmed entrance-exam cycle was held in December 2025 for the 2025/2026 academic year. KNUST had not yet published a specific 2026/27-cycle deadline at the time of research -- confirm current dates directly with the School of Medical Sciences.

Is university accommodation available for international students?

Yes -- international students can book rooms through KNUST's official GUSSS campus logistics system, with 2025/26 annual rates ranging from roughly USD 905 to USD 1,255 depending on room type and year of study.

Do Indian students need NEET to join this programme?

The university's own admissions criteria do not reference NEET. Separately, India's National Medical Commission requires Indian citizens and OCI holders who obtain a primary medical qualification abroad to have qualified NEET-UG, whose result serves as the mandatory Eligibility Certificate.
