Question 1

Is Nanjing University a recognised public university?

Accepted Answer

Nanjing University appears on the Ministry of Education’s directly administered university list. Its origins date to 1902. The university has Gulou, Xianlin, Pukou and Suzhou campuses and is distinct from other Nanjing universities with similar names.

Question 2

Are international undergraduate degrees taught in English?

Accepted Answer

The official 2027 undergraduate catalogue states that its undergraduate programmes are Chinese-taught. An undergraduate major named English is a language subject, not proof of an English-medium degree route. The English options described here are master’s programmes.

Question 3

Which computing and AI master’s routes are offered?

Accepted Answer

The current English list includes a two-year professional Computer Technology route and a two-year professional Artificial Intelligence route. AI applicants need a bachelor’s degree in AI or a related discipline. Smart Environment adds an environmental programme with AI and data applications.

Question 4

Do English master’s students need Chinese?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The programme profiles and current general guide require HSK Level 3 before graduation. Main-course instruction in English does not remove Chinese-language study or the graduation requirement.

Question 5

What are the English test requirements?

Accepted Answer

Most English routes require TOEFL at least 85 on the 0–120 scale or 4.5 on the 1–6 scale, IELTS 6.0 or Duolingo 100. Computer Technology asks for scores above those thresholds. TOEFL Essentials 9 is accepted under the general route, while native-English exemptions follow the programme requirements.

Question 6

What are the age limits?

Accepted Answer

The current self-sponsored master’s guide requires applicants to be under forty. The 2027 CSC Type B route says master’s applicants should not be older than thirty-five. Both require the bachelor’s qualification; prospective graduates must complete it by July 2027.

Question 7

What does Information Resources Management cover?

Accepted Answer

The programme has Information Management and Data Analytics and Information Management and Digital Humanities research directions. It combines information management, research methods and direction-specific work, with fieldwork and thesis development. The stated award is a Master’s Degree in Management, and no special prior computer-skills requirement is set.

Question 8

What award does the Sociology programme confer?

Accepted Answer

The Sociology programme focuses on contemporary Chinese society, with courses in anthropology, migration, gender, family and related social issues. The programme describes a graduate diploma in Sociology and a master’s degree in law. Use the exact institutional award when checking recognition or further-study requirements.

Question 9

Do architecture and planning applicants need a portfolio?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The general admission guide requires a portfolio of relevant works for the School of Architecture and Urban Planning. Architecture and Urban-Rural Planning also specify relevant prior-degree fields; both English professional routes are two years.

Question 10

What tuition and housing figures are available?

Accepted Answer

Published annual programme references are CNY 38,000 for Computer Technology and AI, CNY 36,000 for Smart Environment, CNY 45,000 for International Relations and CNY 35,000 for the other listed routes. Confirm the 2027 fee in the offer. Xianlin housing uses a semester bed charge; Gulou uses daily room or bed charges, with insurance and deposits separate.

Question 11

When are the application windows?

Accepted Answer

The current self-sponsored route gives 1 March–20 May, with school assessments normally in April–May. The 2027 CSC Type B route runs 1 November 2026–20 January 2027, followed by the CSC submission before 17 March after NJU pre-admission. The scholarship notice expects the new academic year in early September 2027; the offer confirms exact dates.

Question 12

What does the 2027 CSC Type B scholarship cover?

Accepted Answer

The university’s 2027 notice lists a tuition waiver, international-dorm lodging, CNY 800 annual health insurance and a CNY 3,000 monthly master’s allowance. Selection and continuation are conditional, including annual review. The notice restricts holding this award alongside other Chinese scholarship funding for 2027–28.

Question 13

Do applicants of Chinese origin need extra documents?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The university publishes a specific checklist covering nationality history, passports and entry records, birth and parental documents, and applicable naturalisation or nationality-annulment evidence. Some documents are mandatory for the specified circumstances; prepare the complete checklist rather than assuming a foreign passport alone is sufficient.
