What is Tamil Nadu National Law University?

TNNLU is a Tamil Nadu state university established by ActNo.9 of 2012 in Tiruchirappalli. It was formerly called Tamil Nadu National Law School and is listed under that name in the UGC consolidated register.

Which programme is shown here?

The verified offering shown here is the one-year Post Graduate Diploma in Fisheries Law and Policy, offered in part-time hybrid mode with BOBP-IGO. The university also has residential law degrees whose admission requirements and teaching arrangements are separate.

Who can apply for the fisheries diploma?

A graduate from a recognised university in India or abroad can apply. The brochure places no restrictions on age, nationality, gender or employment status. Applicants must still satisfy qualification assessment and the teaching and examination requirements.

Is a law degree required?

The diploma accepts graduates from recognised universities across disciplines. It introduces legal systems and fisheries frameworks alongside regional policy, human rights and negotiation. It is suitable for subject-specific policy learning without requiring applicants to already be qualified lawyers.

Is this a fully online programme?

Teaching is online or hybrid, with weekend sessions, but final written examinations require physical attendance at approved centres. The university will notify centres in India and abroad. Obtain the applicable arrangements before committing to travel or assuming remote-only completion.

What language is used?

The PGDFLP brochure explicitly specifies English instruction. This statement applies to the diploma, and does not establish teaching language for every other university degree.

When does the programme begin?

The 2026-27 brochure scheduled commencement for 1 August 2026 and a programme running from August toJuly. Applications were scheduled 27 May–15 July 2026. Future-cycle start dates and application windows require a new notification.

What is the tuition fee?

For 2026-27, one-year tuition is INR 20000 for Indian candidates, USD 320 for BOBP-country candidates andUSD 600 for candidates from other countries. The brochure has a separate India fee column; admissions should confirm the applicable country category.

What other charges should I budget for?

The published totals, including application, admission, examination, provisional-certificate and convocation charges, are INR 27500 for India, USD 450 for BOBP-country candidates andUSD 850 for other-country candidates. Physical examination travel and any accommodation are additional.

How is attendance assessed?

Students need at least 60%attendance in each course to sit the examination. Recordings are available for review, but a missed live class needs prior approval for any recording-based attendance credit under programme rules. Access to recordings alone does not count as attendance.

Does the diploma qualify me to practise law?

The postgraduate diploma provides specialised academic study in fisheries law and policy. It is distinct from a qualifying LLB and does not itself confer advocate registration or a right to practise law. Professional admission remains subject to the relevant jurisdiction’s requirements.

What support does a hybrid student receive?

Enrolled PGDFLP students receive remote library access, class recordings for review and dissertation guidance. BOBP-IGO coordinates academic work with TNNLU. A residential campus logistics place or internship is not implied by enrolment in this hybrid programme.
