Is Tianjin University a public university?

Tianjin University is listed by China’s Ministry of Education as a higher-education institution under the Ministry of Education. Its roots date to Peiyang University in 1895. Institutional listing does not itself settle overseas professional registration.

How many English programmes are covered?

The current 2027 international catalogues contain 13 English undergraduate entries and 39 English master’s entries. They include distinct schools and locations; Chinese-taught entries remain outside this English portfolio.

Are all programmes taught in Tianjin?

No. Many schools use Weijin Road or Peiyang Park in Tianjin. The English catalogues separately name Shenzhen International Institute and Hainan International Institute, so compare the exact school and location rather than assuming one city.

What undergraduate qualifications are required?

Applicants need a high-school diploma, age under 25 and the required CSCA results. Applicants under 18 on 1 September 2027 need a guardian certificate notarised in Tianjin with a guardian permanently resident there. Nationality and original-document review also applies.

Which CSCA subjects do English applicants take?

Use English test papers. The subject combination depends on the school: for example, Pharmacy needs Mathematics and Chemistry, the architecture school needs Mathematics, and Civil Engineering needs Mathematics and Physics. English-taught programmes do not require the professional Chinese test.

What English scores are required?

Undergraduate applicants normally submit IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 80. Master’s applicants normally submit IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 80 or Duolingo 110; accepted English-medium and native-speaker alternatives follow the degree-level guide. The English MBA has higher scores.

Does English study require Chinese proficiency?

Yes. English undergraduate students must attain Level 4 of the Chinese Language Proficiency Scales for Speakers of Other Languages before graduation. English master’s students must attain Level 3; these graduation conditions differ from initial English admission requirements.

What are the MBA requirements?

The English MBA requires IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 85, GPA above 3.2/4.0, at least one year of relevant work experience and a TJU supervisor acceptance letter. Applicants graduating in 2027 are not eligible to apply.

What tuition is published?

Master’s fees also vary by school; Hainan Management Science and Engineering quotes CNY 276,000 for the full three years.

When and how can I apply?

Apply through tju.at0086.cn/student for the exact catalogue entry. The 2027 central deadline is 31 May 2027; undergraduate scholarship applicants are asked to submit before 1 April 2027. Master’s interviews run February–June and decisions are announced in July; scholarship routes may have earlier deadlines.

What documents do master’s applicants need?

Prepare degree and transcripts, English evidence, continuous study resume, a research plan of at least 1,000 words and two professor/associate-professor recommendations. Physical examination, non-criminal record and other applicable documents are also required. Architecture-school applicants submit electronic works and a video presentation.

Is accommodation guaranteed?

No. International students reserve online, and the university allocates according to policy and programme campus. Tianjin dormitory rates range from CNY 15 to 60 per bed/day; if a reservation is unsuccessful, the university supplies off-campus housing information. Separate institute housing costs are unverified.

What additional costs apply?

The central guide lists application fee CNY 500 after admission, with Chinese Government Scholarship winners exempt, and insurance CNY 800/year. Admitted undergraduates prepay a CNY 7,000 deposit plus the application charge; non-registration for personal reasons makes them non-refundable. Accommodation and personal costs are additional.
