Is UCU Medicine direct-entry after secondary school?

Yes. UCU lists completed secondary education from every orientation, without pending subjects, as the entry requirement for its Doctor/a en Medicina programme.

How long is the Doctor/a en Medicina programme?

It is a six-year, in-person programme at UCU's Montevideo campus. The curriculum is organised into basic, clinical and pre-professional practice stages.

Is the programme taught in English?

The programme page is Spanish-language and does not describe Medicine as English-medium. It requires B2-equivalent English in speaking, writing and reading for graduation, and UCU offers no-cost courses to help students reach that level.

What is the current tuition fee?

UCU does not publicly display a current Medicine fee, full programme cost or instalment count on the reviewed pages. Its admissions route provides economic information directly and uses consecutive instalments for degree payment.

What do international secondary-school graduates submit?

UCU requests a school certificate proving completion and university eligibility, a transcript of subjects and passing grades, and apostille or legalisation as applicable. The admissions team needs to confirm the country-specific route.

What is the Medicine internship structure?

UCU reported a 40-week supervised internship for its first cohort, divided into four ten-week rotations. Three were in Montevideo and one was compulsory outside Montevideo; sites and rotations can vary by cohort.

Are scholarships available for Medicine?

Medicine participates in UCU's undergraduate scholarship competition. Published categories include 100% and 80% academic-excellence awards and 100% and 80% need-based awards, subject to eligibility, results, places and ongoing conditions.

What student support is available?

Bienestar Estudiantil provides orientation, inclusion, wellbeing promotion and scholarship-holder follow-up through interviews, group interventions and workshops. It is a university-wide service for UCU students.

Does MEC recognition allow medical practice abroad?

No automatic overseas practice right follows from the stated Uruguay recognition. Professional registration, examinations, language requirements and postgraduate pathways are determined by the country where a graduate plans to work.
