Campus life, Indian student community, food options, and day-to-day living at University of Bonn in Bonn.
Bonn’s main university sites include the historic main building and the Poppelsdorf campus. The Computer Science Institute is part of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences; the degree is organized as a research-oriented single-subject master’s programme rather than a taught conversion course.
Student housing is handled by Studierendenwerk Bonn, which accepts applications for dormitory places. The university’s 2025–26 exchange fact sheet gives planning ranges of EUR 300–560 a month for dormitory housing and EUR 300–650 for private accommodation; availability and the actual contract cost vary by residence and intake.
Bonn’s published cost table budgets EUR 198 a month for food. The university does not present this as a compulsory meal-plan charge; it is a planning figure within a wider student-living estimate, alongside rent, health insurance, learning materials and personal expenses.
The university’s international guidance focuses on practical arrival and residence support rather than publishing campus-crime statistics. Students who need a German study visa must show sufficient funding; Bonn notes the federal minimum cited for this purpose is EUR 992 per month or EUR 11,904 per year from October 2024.
The International Office provides application and arrival information, while Studierendenwerk Bonn manages student-housing applications. Bonn’s Study Buddy Program matches newly arrived international students with local students, and Welcome Days are held before semesters for international arrivals.
