Is the MBBS programme direct-entry after high school?

Yes. The primary route is Direct Entry from Fiji Year 13 (FSFE) or an equivalent secondary qualification, with no separate bachelor's stage required first.

What qualification is awarded on graduation?

Graduates receive the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), followed by a compulsory rotating internship (two years, per Fiji's Ministry of Health) before registering with the Fiji Medical and Dental Council.

How long is the programme and how is it structured?

Six years (720 credit points across 32 courses): preclinical foundations in Years 1-2, then clinical rotation blocks of decreasing length through Years 3-6, concluding with an Objective Structured Clinical Examination.

What is the current tuition fee?

For international students (outside Fiji, the Pacific Islands Forum, Australia and New Zealand), the official 2026 fee schedule lists FJD 34,760 per year in Years 1-3, FJD 35,860 in Years 4-5, and FJD 36,960 in Year 6, for a total of roughly FJD 212,960 across the programme.

What entrance exam does the university require?

There is no standalone entrance exam. Direct-entry applicants need an aggregate of at least 320 out of 400 marks across four subjects (English, Biology and Mathematics compulsory, plus Chemistry, Physics or Computer Science), with a minimum of 60% in English. International applicants are additionally assessed case-by-case with a recent medical report and evidence of English proficiency.

How do I apply, and when does the academic year start?

There is no online application portal; applicants complete a downloadable PDF application form and submit it by email or post. No fixed international application deadline is published -- decisions are made case-by-case. Semester 1 begins in mid-February and Semester 2 in mid-to-late July.

Is a scholarship available for international MBBS students?

No scholarship specifically for international MBBS students was found. The university's loan and scholarship schemes (the UniFiji Loan Scheme and Tertiary Scholarship and Loans Board programmes) are oriented toward Fiji citizens.

Do Indian students need NEET to join this programme?

The university's own admissions criteria do not reference NEET. Separately, India's National Medical Commission requires Indian citizens and OCI holders who obtain a primary medical qualification abroad to have qualified NEET-UG, whose result serves as the mandatory Eligibility Certificate.
