Question 1

Which English degrees are supported?

Accepted Answer

Four-year undergraduate Software Engineering and the three-year master in Intelligent Science and Technology are explicitly marked English Taught in the current 2026 international catalogues. Other majors, including foreign-language studies and the separate Software Engineering master fee row, are not assumed to be English programmes.

Question 2

What are the verified tuition amounts?

Accepted Answer

Software Engineering uses the science/engineering undergraduate base CNY 11,000/year plus the explicit CNY 5,000 English surcharge, totalling CNY 16,000/year. The exact Intelligent Science master fee-appendix row gives CNY 8,000 base, plus the same surcharge, totalling CNY 13,000/year. These are transparent calculations from the 2026 published schedule; confirm later-intake charges.

Question 3

Which English test scores are required?

Accepted Answer

Both current guides specify IELTS Academic 6.5 or TOEFL 90, or another valid equivalent certificate recognised by YNU. The undergraduate guide also specifies Duolingo 110; the master guide does not independently establish that option. Do not transfer a certificate option from one level to another.

Question 4

Can English certificates be waived?

Accepted Answer

The Chinese current text refers to applicants from countries where English is a working language, while the English text refers to native speakers. Confirm the exact exemption with YNU before relying on it. No general English-medium-school exemption or automatic broader waiver is inferred.

Question 5

Which CSCA papers apply to Software Engineering?

Accepted Answer

The exact current undergraduate row requires Mathematics and Physics, with English as the examination language. This differs from another university’s Physics-or-Chemistry choice and must not be substituted. CSCA results form part of the application; no unverified minimum score is invented.

Question 6

What age and qualifications are required?

Accepted Answer

Undergraduate applicants are aged 18–30 and hold senior high-school graduation or higher. The regular master guide gives age 20–40 and requires a bachelor’s degree, good academic performance and readiness for programme assessment. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens meeting the relevant nationality and university rules.

Question 7

What study plans and references are required?

Accepted Answer

Both levels require a study plan or research proposal of more than 1,000 words in Chinese or English. Master applicants also submit two professor or associate-professor recommendations with names, titles and contact details. The master proposal should address the research question, existing preparation, approach, methods and expected objectives.

Question 8

What health and financial records are needed?

Accepted Answer

The checklist includes a complete Foreigner Physical Examination Form with hospital stamp, physician signature and sealed photograph, and a police certificate issued within six months. Financial evidence is a recent bank balance or the signed guarantor form with guarantor ID and bank evidence. Notarised Chinese or English translations are required for other-language documents.

Question 9

Can I send documents by email or post?

Accepted Answer

No. The current guides require electronic upload to YNU’s official international application system and state that emailed or posted application materials are not reviewed. Keep all uploaded records clear, authentic and valid, monitor messages and bring required originals for registration verification.

Question 10

What are the current application dates?

Accepted Answer

Published regular undergraduate deadline is 31 May 2026; the regular master deadline is 15 May 2026 at 00:00 Beijing time. Both are past. A later International Chinese Education master deadline does not apply to Intelligent Science and Technology. Scholarship deadlines differ; no 2027 degree deadline or exact start month is inferred.

Question 11

Which campus will I attend?

Accepted Answer

YNU has Donglu and Chenggong campuses. The current undergraduate and master contact-office addresses differ, and the Software school identifies a Chenggong base. These facts do not establish every international teaching or residence assignment. The university offer determines registration date and place; confirm the exact programme and accommodation campus directly.

Question 12

What accommodation and insurance are available?

Accepted Answer

On-campus housing depends on apartment capacity and student preference, usually four-person rooms. Prices vary, and utilities follow separate apartment-centre notices; no exact tariff or room guarantee is established. Required comprehensive insurance is published at CNY 800/person/year, with admission consequences if the requirement remains unmet.

Question 13

Are scholarships or graduate-school routes automatically included?

Accepted Answer

No. Government, provincial, university and other scholarships have separate applications and award rules. Funding is not an assumed fee discount. The current Southwest United Graduate School international guide covers Chinese-taught doctoral programmes, outside this English undergraduate/master scope. Generic English-test wording there does not establish an English master route.
