Teaching phases
Three-year English master’s study and research
Full-time study normally takes three years; the June 2026 foreign-student rule allows a maximum five-year period to apply for the degree. Minimum 32 credits: Chinese/China Overview 8, basic theory≥6, professional foundation≥10, electives≥8. The course plan is completed within 20 days after enrolment and coursework normally within two years. English-route theses are written in English with a detailed Chinese abstract; defence may be in English. HSK level 3 certificate is required for the degree, separately from entry. Publication is encouraged rather than mandatory in this foreign-specific rule. Chinese and English copies of the degree/graduation certificates have equal effect.
Catalogue supervisor research areas
Drilling engineering; multiscale geomaterial microstructure and reinforcement; geological-hazard prevention. These are supervisor research areas, not separate degrees or guaranteed choices; follow the approved individual plan.

Training & support
Practical training & industry exposure
The university’s profile emphasises mining, safety, geology and related engineering fields. Its Geological and Environmental Engineering faculty describes geological exploration, engineering-geology and disaster-prevention research, environmental laboratories and links between resources, environmental protection and engineering. The current international master’s catalogue identifies supervisor research areas rather than separate degrees. A supervisor-approved course and research plan determines individual study; no paid internship, laboratory allocation, employer placement or job is guaranteed.
