Training & support
Practical training & industry exposure
Practical training is programme-attached rather than centralised. Engineering departments at Coimbatore keep their own laboratory stock: the Electrical and Electronics department, established in 1994, maintains Power Electronics, Electric Machines and Control Systems, Electrical Measurements and Embedded Systems laboratories plus an electrical workshop, and the Electronics and Communication curriculum carries specialisation electives in embedded systems, wireless and satellite communication, biomedical signal processing, VLSI fabrication technology, speech processing and optical communication. The Corporate and Industry Relations directorate at Coimbatore handles industry engagement and placement activity. The Bengaluru MBA-MS builds in a six-credit summer internship after the third trimester, a Live-in-Labs rural field-immersion block after the first two trimesters, and a study trip to the University at Buffalo at the end of the first year during which students take a Strategy course on the US campus. Amrita also operates dual-degree, twinning and student-exchange arrangements with partner universities in the United States and Europe through the Amrita Center for International Programs; standalone Live-in-Labs, internship and observership placements sit outside the degree-admission route and are applied for separately.
