Living in university-allocated accommodation is mandatory for undergraduate and postgraduate students; PhD students may live off campus and then arrange their own food. Coimbatore publishes 2026-27 rates: international hostels are air-conditioned rooms with attached washrooms at INR 1,00,000 for three-occupancy, INR 1,20,000 for two-occupancy and INR 1,50,000 for single occupancy, plus an INR 62,500 annual mess fee and a one-time INR 10,000 caution deposit. Non-AC rooms run INR 52,000 to INR 68,000 by block and occupancy, with the same mess fee. For international students the hostel charge is billed through the Provisional Offer Letter and bundles accommodation, mess and health insurance. Extra electrical appliances are not permitted in rooms.

The university mess serves vegetarian food only; there is no non-vegetarian option on the mess menu. Students with food allergies are required to declare them to their campus mess. Uniforms and books are paid for separately after arrival and are not part of the annual fee. Medical insurance is compulsory for every international student, is bundled into the hostel fee and covers inpatient services.
The campus is residential and gated, with a published dress code, an anti-ragging regime and mandatory on-campus residence for undergraduate and postgraduate students. Students must notify the international office two days before leaving campus, and a Form C filing is required for each place stayed away from campus for more than 24 hours. Only a Student or Research visa endorsed to the institution is accepted for study.
The Amrita Center for International Programs handles e-FRRO filings (Form C within 24 hours of arrival, Form S within 14 days where the visa exceeds 180 days), bonafide letters, visa-extension paperwork and exit formalities, and files each international student's attendance and results on the e-FRRO portal every three months. It also assists with SIM-card and bank-account applications. Admission may be deferred by up to one year.
