The Re-NEET UG 2026 runs on 21 June 2026 from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM — 15 minutes longer than the cancelled 3 May exam. That change is small enough that most students will ignore it, and meaningful enough that the students who have a plan for it will use it.
From 1 June to 21 June is exactly 21 days. Here is how to use them.
The 15-Minute Rule — Decide This Before You Enter the Exam Hall
The original exam: 3 hours, 200 questions. The re-exam: 3 hours 15 minutes, 200 questions.
Fifteen extra minutes sounds trivial. In a 200-question exam, it is approximately 4–5 additional questions worth of working time. Whether you gain from it depends entirely on whether you have a plan for it before you sit down.
Strategy A — The Physics Buffer
For students whose weak subject is Physics.
Set a personal internal target: complete all 200 questions by 5:00 PM, as if the exam ends at the original time. Then treat 5:00–5:15 PM as 15 dedicated minutes for Physics only — return to Physics questions you marked uncertain, attempted with low confidence, or left blank entirely.
Why Physics specifically? Because Biology first-pass instincts are usually correct. The instinct-reversal problem — where a student changes a right answer to a wrong one — is most common in Biology. Your first-pass Biology answer is more often right than the revised one. Leave those alone. Physics calculation-based questions are where second-looks with calm time actually help.
Strategy B — The Weak Subject Override
For students whose weak subject is Chemistry.
Structure the session differently. Aim to complete Biology and Physics within the first two hours. Use the full remaining 75 minutes for Chemistry — including the extra 15. This distributes time proportionally to where your marks are most at risk.
The Strategy That Almost Never Works
Using the extra 15 minutes to randomly re-read questions across all three subjects. This creates a false sense of thoroughness and statistically results in net score reduction through instinct reversals. Pick one subject, stick to it.
The key rule: whatever strategy you choose, decide it before 21 June. Not at 5:02 PM under pressure.
Biology: 360 Marks — Your Highest-Leverage Subject
Biology accounts for half the NEET paper. It is also the most predictable section — the same chapter clusters appear with high density across every recent NEET cycle. This is where your 21 days will return the most marks.
Do not re-read textbooks. Work chapter-specific MCQ banks for these five clusters. The goal is recognition and speed — not fresh learning.
Priority Cluster 1: Genetics and Molecular Biology
Consistently one of the highest-question-density areas in NEET Biology. The mechanisms are complex, but the question patterns are highly predictable once you have seen enough of them.
What to cover:
- Mendelian inheritance and its extensions — incomplete dominance, co-dominance, epistasis, linkage
- Chromosomal theory of inheritance
- DNA replication: enzymes, steps, leading and lagging strand
- Transcription: RNA types, processing
- Translation: codons, ribosomes, post-translational modification
- Recombinant DNA technology: tools, vectors, PCR, gel electrophoresis, applications
Revision approach: Diagram-based questions appear frequently here. Draw the replication fork and the transcription bubble from memory — these appear as diagram-label questions with high regularity.
Priority Cluster 2: Cell Biology and Cell Division
Short, factual, specific questions with high frequency. These are the biology marks most students pick up in the first read-through of the paper — and they are available to anyone who has covered the chapter properly.
What to cover:
- Cell structure: organelles, their functions, endomembrane system
- Differences between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells
- Mitosis: phases and key events at each phase
- Meiosis: stages, crossing over, significance
- Cell cycle: G1, S, G2, M phases — regulation and checkpoints
Revision approach: Comparison tables (mitosis vs meiosis, plant cell vs animal cell) are worth memorising in structured form. These comparisons appear as both MCQs and match-the-following questions.
Priority Cluster 3: Ecology
Ecology is consistently underestimated by students who spend all revision time on Genetics and Physiology. That underestimation is, for you, an advantage.
What to cover:
- Population ecology: growth models (J-curve, S-curve), birth rate, death rate, carrying capacity, age structure
- Ecosystems: energy flow, food chains and webs, ecological pyramids, nutrient cycling (nitrogen, carbon, phosphorus)
- Biodiversity: types, measurement, hotspots, threats (HIPPO), conservation strategies (in-situ vs ex-situ)
- Environmental issues: greenhouse gases, ozone depletion, biomagnification
Revision approach: Factual and mostly non-calculation-based. In 21 days, ecology is one of the fastest chapters to cover and one where strong preparation reliably separates scores.
Priority Cluster 4: Human Physiology
Heavy, but distributed across chapters that appear with high regularity in every NEET paper.
What to cover:
- Digestion: enzymes, organs, absorption sites
- Circulation: cardiac cycle, AV node, ECG, blood composition, blood groups, clotting
- Excretion: nephron structure and function, tubular reabsorption, renal regulation, osmoregulation
- Neural coordination: neuron structure, synapse, impulse transmission, CNS and PNS
- Chemical coordination: major endocrine glands, hormones and their functions, feedback mechanisms
- Reproduction: male and female reproductive systems, menstrual cycle, fertilisation, embryonic development
Revision approach: Process understanding — not label memorisation — is the key here. NEET Human Physiology questions ask "what happens when" more than "what is called". Practice working through physiological sequences rather than reciting lists.
Priority Cluster 5: Plant Physiology
Moderately predictable. Lower average question frequency than Genetics or Physiology, but reliable enough to be worth proper coverage.
What to cover:
- Photosynthesis: light reactions, dark reactions (Calvin cycle), photorespiration, C3 and C4 pathways, CAM plants
- Respiration: glycolysis, Krebs cycle, electron transport chain, ATP yield, fermentation
- Transport in plants: osmosis, plasmolysis, active and passive transport, transpiration, ascent of sap
- Plant growth regulators: auxins, cytokinins, gibberellins, ABA, ethylene — mechanisms and applications
Revision approach: Calculation-type questions appear occasionally in photosynthesis and respiration (ATP yield, RQ values). These are quick marks if you have a formula sheet memorised — worth 30 minutes of focused prep.
Physics: 180 Marks — Fix Two Chapters, Not Everything
The most common Physics mistake in the final 3 weeks: trying to cover all chapters. The result is no chapter properly consolidated.
The historically reliable Physics chapters in NEET:
- Mechanics: Laws of Motion, Work and Energy, Rotational Motion, Gravitation
- Electrostatics and Current Electricity: Coulomb's law, capacitors, circuits, Ohm's law, Kirchhoff's laws
- Modern Physics: Photoelectric effect, de Broglie hypothesis, Bohr model, radioactivity, nuclear reactions
- Optics: Ray optics — mirrors, refraction, lenses. Wave optics — diffraction, interference basics
The 21-day Physics strategy: Identify your two weakest chapters from the list above — the ones where you score 40–60% on practice papers. Work on those two chapters only. Not three. Not five. Two, done well.
If you are already scoring 65–70%+ on Physics practice papers, you are in maintenance mode. Do 15–20 Physics questions per day to keep your problem-solving rhythm without over-investing time that should go to Biology or Chemistry.
Chemistry: 180 Marks — Organic First
Of Chemistry's three branches — Organic, Inorganic, Physical — Organic gives you the fastest marks per hour of revision time in the NEET context.
Organic Chemistry: Your Highest-Priority Chemistry Area
What to cover:
- GOC: inductive effect, mesomeric (resonance) effect, hyperconjugation, reaction intermediates (carbocations, carbanions, free radicals)
- Named reactions: Aldol condensation, Cannizzaro, Wolff-Kishner, Clemmensen, Hofmann bromamide, Reimer-Tiemann, Gabriel synthesis, Hell-Volhard-Zelinsky — mechanism and product
- Major functional groups: alcohols and phenols, aldehydes and ketones, carboxylic acids, amines — preparation, properties, reactions
Revision approach: Mechanism-based questions require understanding, not memorisation. Practice writing out reaction mechanisms from memory. Questions that ask "what is the product of" rather than "what is called" are the ones that trap students who only memorised definitions.
Inorganic Chemistry: Factual and Revision-Friendly
- Periodic table trends: ionisation energy, electron affinity, atomic radius, electronegativity
- p-block elements: Groups 15, 16, 17, 18 — properties, reactions, important compounds
- d-block and coordination compounds: IUPAC naming, isomerism, crystal field theory basics
- Biomolecules: carbohydrates, proteins, nucleic acids — structure and function
In 21 days, use concise notes and flashcards for Inorganic — not full textbook chapters. The density of facts per page is high and re-reading prose is a slow way to cover it.
Physical Chemistry: Prioritise Carefully
If Physical Chemistry is already a strong area: maintain it with 10–15 questions per day. If it is weak: do not try to rebuild it in 21 days. The time cost of rebuilding Physical Chemistry foundations from scratch is higher than the additional marks you will gain. Redirect that time to Organic and Inorganic.
The Final 7 Days — The One Rule That Will Protect Your Score
When your admit card arrives on 14 June 2026, apply this immediately:
Do not start any chapter you have not meaningfully studied before that date.
If a chapter is genuinely unfamiliar to you on 14 June, you cannot consolidate it in the remaining 7 days. What you will do instead is spend revision time on unfamiliar material — arriving at the exam on 21 June with nothing fully locked.
In the final 7 days:
- Revise chapter clusters you have already built
- Do 40–50 mixed MCQs daily from your strong areas
- Run at least one timed practice session from 2:00–5:15 PM to simulate the exact re-exam window
- Lock your exam-day logistics: transport, ID proof, dress code, what to eat before a 2:00 PM start
After June 21 — If the Score Is Not What You Needed
