Training & support
Practical training & industry exposure
Strathclyde's Faculty of Engineering runs eight departments (Architecture, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical and Process Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Design Manufacture and Engineering Management, Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, and Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering), and undergraduate degrees carry direct professional accreditation -- Mechanical Engineering by the IMechE, Civil Engineering by the ICE, IStructE, CIHT and the Railway Engineering Institution, Electronic & Electrical Engineering by the IET, Chemical Engineering by the IChemE, and Biomedical Engineering jointly by IPEM, IMechE and IET. The University's Sir Jim McDonald Technology and Innovation Centre hosts industry partners including SSE, ScottishPower, the Weir Group, Babcock and Rolls-Royce on live applied-research projects. Strathclyde Business School's Full-Time MBA is built around experiential, cohort-based learning, requiring candidates to bring existing management experience and complete a two-month applied MBA project. Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences' MPharm integrates supervised clinical and community placements with NHS partner sites into its GPhC-accredited curriculum. Strathclyde Law School's LLB is recognised by the Law Society of Scotland and the Faculty of Advocates, and PhD Engineering researchers join department research groups within a three-year standard PhD structure.
