Practical training & industry exposure
All seven degrees in this catalogue are MQF/EQF Level 6 honours bachelor's programmes, self-accredited by MCAST under its MFHEA self-accrediting status (Legal Notice 296/2012) and delivered Face-to-Face, Full-Time at the Main Campus in Paola. Five of the seven -- both Mechanical Engineering degrees, Applied Data Sciences, Cybersecurity and Software Development -- include a formal work-based-learning (WBL) component (Placement/Internship for Mechanical Engineering, Apprenticeship for the three ICT degrees), placing students directly with Maltese employers during the course. Electronics Engineering and Civil & Structural Engineering do not carry a formal WBL element but both close with a final-year or capstone research/design component. MCAST's official programme documentation states that non-EU (Third Country National) applicants to any WBL-bearing programme are personally responsible for confirming with the relevant Maltese authority whether their visa/permit status allows them to undertake the accredited placement, since completing it is normally required to finish the degree.
