Campus environment

Accommodation
MCAST does not operate its own on-campus student dormitories; MCAST's own International Students pages do not publish institutional housing options, so international students arrange private accommodation in Malta's open rental market. Numbeo's 2026 Malta data shows a one-bedroom apartment averaging EUR 1,037/month in a city centre and EUR 855/month outside a centre, a three-bedroom apartment (suited to shared housing) averaging EUR 1,731/month in a centre and EUR 1,393/month outside one, and basic monthly utilities (electricity, water, garbage) for an 85 sqm flat at about EUR 92. Broadband internet averages about EUR 31/month. Since October 2022 all Malta residents, including registered international students, are entitled to free public transport across the whole island (and Gozo) once they hold a personalised Tallinja Card, which materially reduces the practical cost of living outside the Paola campus area.

Daily living support
MCAST's own published pages do not list dedicated Indian, South Asian or halal food partnerships near the Main Campus in Paola. Numbeo's 2026 Malta data shows an inexpensive restaurant meal averaging EUR 15.00 and a fast-food combo meal at about EUR 10.00, both markedly higher than several other lower-cost study destinations. Malta's food culture reflects its Mediterranean and historically British-influenced cuisine, and Paola sits within Malta's main urban conurbation, giving reasonable access to varied grocery and restaurant options island-wide; students with specific dietary needs should independently confirm current halal, vegetarian or Indian-specific options near their accommodation, since MCAST does not publish guidance on this topic.
Safety and support
Numbeo's 2026 Malta Crime Index stood at 42.97 against a Safety Index of 57.03, with 'safety walking alone during daylight' rated High (71.75) and 'at night' rated Moderate (54.90). Malta uses the EU-standard 112 emergency number for police, fire and ambulance. MCAST's own website does not publish a dedicated 24/7 international-student emergency hotline distinct from national emergency services; day-to-day student welfare support runs through the college's Wellbeing Hub, Student Liaison Office, Grievance Office and Inclusive Education Unit, which are shared across all institutes and campuses. International applicants deal primarily with MG2i (MCAST Gateway to Industry) via MCAST's International Office (applyinternational@mcast.edu.mt / mcastintapp@mcast.edu.mt), which handles offer letters, fee payment plans and visa-supporting documentation, separately from the College's domestic Admissions Board. MCAST's Wellbeing Hub offers counselling and psychotherapy, addiction-related support, psychiatric services, nutritional advice, tobacco-cessation support, sexual-health services and social-work services; the Youth Hub, Integration Office, Career Guidance Service, Student Liaison Office and Grievance Office provide further day-to-day support. The Inclusive Education Unit (IEU) supports students with particular needs or disabilities, including in-class learning-support services, campus orientation tours and personal assistants where required. Tuition can be paid in instalments, and MCAST currently offers a scholarship exempting students on a 3-year or 4-year bachelor's degree from fees for their final year of study (forfeited if a student is held back a year through failed resits). All students, including international students who become Malta tax residents after graduating, may also apply for a 70% tuition-fee tax rebate under Malta's 'Get Qualified' scheme.
