B.E./B.Tech AI & ML at Government College of Technology, Coimbatore: Eligibility & Requirements

Entry to B.E. Computer Science and Engineering (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning) follows the TNEA first-year academic or specified vocational qualification routes, together with the applicable nationality and Tamil Nadu connection rules.

• Pass HSC academic +1 and +2 or an accepted equivalent; the minimum +2 Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry average is 45% for General and 40% for BC/BCM, MBC/DNC and SC/SCA/ST.
• An approved HSC vocational route is also available, using a related Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry subject plus vocational theory and practical marks at the same category thresholds.
• TNEA accepts the specified mechanical, electrical, electronics, civil, automobile and textile vocational groups; eligibility depends on the actual qualifying subject combination.
• Fulfil TNEA nationality, nativity or schooling rules. Tamil Nadu communal reservation is separate from Open Competition eligibility.
• Selection uses the TNEA merit and counselling process; minimum qualifying marks do not assure a seat in this branch.
• Open to: Indian nationals meeting TNEA 2026 rules
• Open to: Eligible Tamil Nadu native OCI/PIO applicants
• Open to: Eligible Sri Lankan Tamil refugees educated in Tamil Nadu
• This offering covers the TNEA first-year route, not unrestricted international admission.
• Tamil Nadu candidates who completed Classes 8–12 in Tamil Nadu do not need a nativity certificate. Tamil Nadu natives who studied any of those classes outside the state need the prescribed electronic nativity certificate.
• Children of Central Government employees serving continuously in Tamil Nadu for five years may apply with employer evidence; a guardian qualifies only when both parents are deceased.
• Children of permanent employees of public-sector or government-recognised institutions serving continuously in Tamil Nadu for five years may apply with employer and employment evidence.
• Children of All India Service officers of the Tamil Nadu cadre may apply with the required parental self-declaration. Other-state applicants who completed Classes 8–12 in Tamil Nadu may also apply.
• The parental-service and other-state schooling categories compete in Open Competition, not Tamil Nadu communal reservation.
• Tamil Nadu native OCI/PIO cardholders may compete in Open Category; the exception excludes those born abroad after 4 March 2021.
• Sri Lankan Tamil refugees educated in Tamil Nadu may compete in Open Competition with the prescribed refugee documentation.
• Communal reservation requires Tamil Nadu nativity and a valid Tamil Nadu community certificate; other eligible categories compete in Open Competition.
