Training & support
Practical training & industry exposure
Kattankulathur runs a Directorate of Career Centre from Tech Tower II that handles pre-placement talks, written tests, group discussions and interviews for all six faculties. The clearest verified outcome data is the engineering return SRMIST filed with the Ministry of Education for India Rankings 2025: of the 4,552 undergraduates who completed the four-year programme in the minimum stipulated time in 2023-24, 4,210 were placed and 212 went on to higher study, at a median salary of INR 620,000 per annum; at postgraduate level 278 of 297 completers were placed at a median of INR 612,000. The comparable 2022-23 undergraduate median was INR 610,000 and the 2021-22 median INR 449,000. Several Kattankulathur programmes are taught with a named partner rather than in the abstract: the B.Tech. Computer Science and Business Systems track runs in partnership with Tata Consultancy Services, M.Tech. Electric Vehicle Technology with Valeo, M.Tech. Information Security and Cyber Forensics with K7 Computing, the B.Tech. Automobile Engineering vehicles-testing stream with the Global Automotive Research Centre, and the MBA in Financial Services with the National Stock Exchange. The same India Rankings return records 106 sponsored research projects and 130 consultancy projects in 2023-24, and 821 full-time doctoral students.
