Clinical training runs at Victoria Hospital (800 beds) and Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital (600 beds), both Mauritius government hospitals, with additional exposure at other government-approved sites. University of Mauritius examinations combine theory, practical and viva voce/OSCE-style components, requiring 80% physical attendance. Internship arrangements differ by cohort: since a 2022 Mauritius-government agreement (reflected in a November 2023 Medical Council of Mauritius Act amendment), students admitted from 2022 onward are intended to intern in Mauritius government hospitals, while earlier cohorts of Indian graduates historically completed internship at named hospitals in India (including Safdarjung, Sir Ganga Ram and KEM Mumbai).
